I will be driving to Worcester MA in mid-July, most likely after I return from SDCC. I'm applying to Clark University (http://www.clarku.edu/), so I'd like to check out the campus and talk to my tentative advisor.
Does anyone live near (or is familiar) with the area?
Either PM me or reply to this thread.
Thanks!

Well, I'll bump this.
We played WPI in football and basketball, and we played Clark in hoop.
All I remember of Worchester driving through it on the way to campus was it was a really old New England manufacturing town (at least back in the 80s).
Oh - and once upon a time I dated a Dutch physical therapist from Worchester too. 5'-10" - blonde hair/blue eyes - killer smile - liked the 80s dance scene (sigh)

Worcester is a town that is working on its image in a good way. Being a former industrial city, it is developing more cultural attractions and diversified businesses.
Clark U is a great school; good luck, Choc!
Crap. We had an awesome poster named Quiggy who worked in a comic shop there. He dissapeared after the re-boot though. If you end up in Boston, give another shout out... Worcester is too far away when one has no car. Good luck checking out the campus.

I used to live near Worcester. If you've never heard the local accent, it can be surprising - the city's name can sound like "Wister". I liked the area and the city. They have a local public radio station called WICN that I remember, and the Centrum had some good concerts and sporting events. There are several colleges in and around Worcester, but it's not overwhelmed by college students the way some parts of Boston are. Speaking of the Hub, I found it very easy to drive in to Boston from Worcester.

My gf lives in Milton which is just south of Boston. I'll be there for the 2 weeks right before the SDCC. Anything you need to know I can ask gf and post here if you'd like. I'm sure she'd know and would be glad to help out.

I thought it was "Wooster".
That's generally how people mispronounce it. As far as I've heard anyway.

It's just like the 'Worcester' in Worcestershire Sauce.
