hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has, or could direct me to the hellboy - seed of destruction avi that was floating around a couple of years ago (its mostly panels from seed of destruction with some animation here and there with music from bram stoker's dracula). every time i get it, i don't burn it and it ends up getting deleted somehow. then i have to go through the pains of trying to track it down again. i couldn't find it in the downloads at hellboy.com. if anyone could help, i would be much obliged. thanks

That's a super mega kickass animation.
but it doesn't really look like what Ride was talking about so much...
but that is a super ultra sweet animation that should've been the start of an animated series.

Howdy Cure!
This animation's been popping up on this board and the movie board for the past year. (?or two?) This movie was discussed in a previous thread here (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?p=187199) . The creator of the clip, superrune, even drops by to comment. Like Spyda said in the thread, GDT had contacted superrune and discussed a Hellboy animation (animated series, i think) with him. I don't know if anything came of it. Does anyone know anything? Spyda?

yeah, that is a really rad clip. especially the small things like nervously re-adjusting his grip on the gun. superb stuff. thanks for pointing me to it. i hadn't seen it in a while, i was hoping what i had seen before was just a small snippet of the full animation. oh well. but no, thats not what i was looking for. as far as i can remember it was encoded as an .avi. it was a filming of panels from the SoD series with animation in spots - the whole thing wasn't completely animated, a lot of panning along frames off the page. i think it was, like, circa 98 or 99? maybe older? c'mon jnapper, i know you know what i'm talking about! please help?!
wait, there it is!
ahhhh!! alz!!! whered did your site go? it was the first place i tried to track it down again! this thing was most of the reason i got so into hellboy. its perfect. better than the movie. (braces for backlash). whats the history on it? i remember there being other animations on your site, like unfinished iron shoes stuff.
Yo~!
Yeah, the other material is on that link, too. I did the SoD vid for an art project in my junior year. I mixed it for VHS, then captured it from the video for web posting.
Technology has improved waaaaaay more than it was 10 years ago. I wish I still had the original computer version. My Zip Disc got scrambled and I lost it. I did however find several animation segements (like the Logo sequence).
I want to rebuilt it in higher-rez with better voice work, if I ever find the time on a rainy day.
I have the other material backed-up somewhere. Not much in animation, but atleast the models could be transferred to some other program. if there was any reason to.
Superrunes's Hellboy was phenomenal! If anything, I can lay claim to being the 1st guy to post a 3D Hellboy. I noticed the guys who made that Playstation Game ripped one of my 3D images for their manual, haha

Holy shite, Alz.
I'd never seen those clips before. Fantastic stuff. And frankly, I don't think ridetofight is that far off. Your clip shows how a Hellboy animation, properly done, could convey the mood and aesthetic of the comic much better than anything you can accomplish in live action. Thanks for having made this and for the link.

That was pretty cool! The 3D models were nicely done too

ah, thats sad to hear you don't still have it. but, y'know, i hold the opinion thats its pretty much perfect. its just stuck out in my memory for so long as really capturing the mood thats created in the comics, but giving more of a full sensory experience. like mignola's work, despite the ten years, its simplicity works very well, it just stands the test of time by stripping down the elements. i honestly just can't give you enough praise for it. thanks for the background on it, too. and thanks again a crap ton for posting it.
