Marvel's Death does not possess a particular gender. Thanos perceives Death as a woman. Phoenix perceives Death as a man, who resembles Scott Summers to a great degree. Mirage fought Death as a native American.

Death, like any conceptual being, depends upon the viewer. While an ending, Death is necessary, so to those that encounter it, it will provide a pleasing visage, or at least pleasing enough.
