Kick me for pointing this out LR... but I think this is Classic Comic Cover quiz # 499, and not # 299... ya see... though I haven't a hope in hell of guessing it, I'm really looking forward to the big no.. 500! I'm pretty sure you were just excited over your big day!

Thanks - just a 'typing too quickly' typo.
All fixed.

Here is the 2nd clue
HINT - It is not Code approved
Lone Ranger

Here is the 3rd clue
HINT - More than one company has published a series with this title
Lone Ranger

Here is the 4th clue
HINT - The title character joined the DCU in the 70s

OK, OK, who crashed the GCD again? It was working fine this morning until LR posted the last clue, and then it went blooey a few seconds later.
Looks like Doll Man, but I can't think of a title he shared with others.
I don't even care anymore.

Let me add one more hint.
It has a 12 cent cover price
Red Oak Kid

I did find a scan at Lonestar.
But I don't care anymore.

I'm thinking the DC equivalent of whatever title this is was Freedom Fighters, but the GCD is acting weird and I'm not up on my Quality comics.

Oops
Sorry - it was a typo. It's singular 'title character'

Doll Man 11.
Semi-guess, based upon clews and hints both.
Red Oak Kid

Add 4 to that number.

Doll Man 15.
That would've been my next guess, followed by No. 17.

That would've been my next guess, followed by No. 17.
And there we have it.
T Guy gets 100 points, and he's promised to explain the IW/Super Reprints numbering system. Right, Tim?:D
Here it is in full - new one up soon.

Here is the first clue to the next classic cover
HINT - This title had a slight name change
Jolly Mon
10-11-2006, 02:38 PM
Adventures of Superman # 500 (500 for cover 500, clever)
Lone Ranger

Adventures of Superman # 500 (500 for cover 500, clever)
I try to be clever, but there ain't that many #500s out there. I knew that 'Tec #500 and Action #500 would have been spotted within seconds. I thought this storyline was bad enough that people might have forgotten it.
400 points for Jolly Mon.
Here is the full cover.
New cover - not up soon!
Actually, I am going to take a bit of a breather. Much like after #400 on the last edition of the game. I need to recharge the batteries and get some new covers lined up.
Look for a new edition of the game in the not-so-distant future (hopefully).
Thanks for playing everyone!!!

Please LR! Come Back to us! :(

I agree. 6 months is plenty of time to recharge your batteries.
It's been 6 months, right?

It's been 6 months, right?
It just feels like six years...

Patience, friends, patience.
As ROK knows, it's a bit labour intensive and my scanning time has been very limited lately.

Nah. The first 6 issues are listed as "Marvel's Space-Born Superhero! Captain Marvel." Heaven knows why. I doubt it's titled that way in the indicia.

Er ummm... If my memory banks are firing correctly, it did indeed say that in the indentia. My guess is Marvel was creeping up on the trademark rights or something.

Yes, someone else here told me the same thing. I wonder if Overstreet makes the same distinction?
