View Full Version : The reborn Jason Todd: not exactly a hero, but not exactly evil?

If this Red Hood character is indeed a revived Jason Todd and not a mere illusion or imitation, then he's more ruthless than he was when he was Robin (which is saying something, because he was fairly ruthless even back then). He's got no qualms about killing or maiming to achieve his objectives. He's no hero, and he clearly doesn't follow Batman's moral code.
That said, he doesn't seem to exactly be evil. His methods are deplorable, and his attitude is Machiavellian at best (moreso than Batman). But it doesn't seem like he's out to hurt innocent people (although he won't necessarily be compassionate if they get in his way). In his own way, he still seems to be fighting for justice...albeit in a manner that Batman would never approve.

I was thinking the same thing until he stuck a knife in Onyx.
We'll have to wait and see. I know I'm intrigued.

I think he has become more like the Punisher. He'll takeout whoever is in his way, no matter who they are. And he doesn't just want criminals to be punished he wants them dead. Personally, I look forward to stories discussing how far away he strayed from Bat's teachings and if he will ever become a full on villain.

Does anyone have a link to when he is or when we discover he is the Red Hood?

Same here...I'm on the wait and see basis with Jason.

Oh yeah, there's definately still some good in him. When he told his new drug dealers to not deal to kids. I knew there was still a little good in him. We'll just have to wait and see and I can't wait.

Jason summed it up himself when he said "Fear isn't enough!". I think he sees himself as a hero, but he firmly believes that Batman's methods aren't stringent enough to clean up Gotham.

What has he done as Red Hood so far?

Stolen 100 lbs of various colored Kryptonite from Black Mask and beat the Joker within an inch of his life. Killed twelve Drug runners with a mini-gun (we all know what a mini gun is) and at the end of 640 has Onyx at his mercy and the same mini gun pointed at her chest.
Aside from what's happened recently, I don't know.

So... he's DC's version of the Punisher?
Not very original (what would anyone expect from Winick?) or worth bringing him back if he fills that role as he appears to be doing.

Does anyone know for sure what happend to the 100 lbs. of kryptonite that Red Hood stole from Black Mask?
I was re-reading the issue, and what happened was that Red Hood agreed to sell it back to Black Mask. Black Mask agreed, then used Mr. Freeze in an attempt to setup REd Hood. When Nightwing and Batman arrive, REd Hood tells Nightwing (in reference to the kryptonite) that "You can have it, I got what i came for."
But they never followed up with what actually happened to the kryptonite in the last two issues. I would think that that's a pretty important detail.
Does anybody know?

I forgot about that.
I think they will tie up all this Red Hood stuff arc with Batman 641. But that may tie into VU somehow.
