Read, absorb, regurgitate!

In other words...check it, tell us what you think. :)

Great stuff as always!

I've yet to be disappointed with anything you guys have done, you know. I'm also glad to see a hinting of further character development in this one Jase, as I mentioned how I thought it was lacking in the last couple. ;)

Aw well, thanks, bud. :)

As for character development...never happen.

Okay, maybe a bit. :D

It'd be appreciated, bud, especially if you'd preorder. That goes for everyone who read the trade and is waiting for the next one. We need to get our singles orders up if we're going to get a next trade, you know?

I pre-ordered mine. :) Does that give me an inherent permission to tease you at every turn or am I just reading too much into this? ;)

As long as we're not talking teasing in the sexual sense (you're a nice guy, Mike, but I really don't need to see you in lingerie  ), feel free.

i love Small Gods.im diggin` this storyline. Will there always be different characters for every new story arc? even if you eventually stop and just tie all the characters together, its stll a great/unique idea to bring in new characters for each arc.i`ve never seen that done before.you keep writin`em and i`ll keep buyin em

Dude, did number 8 come out yet? I haven't seen it in the stores...

J.R. Rand
04-13-2005, 06:43 AM
Kramden - in most, but not all story arcs. Some of the characters are intended as recurring ones. Besides the upcoming colour special that'll feature Owen and Bobby and their friends from the first and second arc, the fourth returns fully to Owen and Co.

Sekhemket - not yet, but it should be in a week or two at the latest. We've had a few delays, unfortunately, but we're working hard to get back onto schedule again.

Dammit, I had decided to drop Small Gods because of the changing cast of characters. Now you go and not only bring back Owen, but team him up with Bobby Pope, tying both arcs together.

Bring back the telekinetic assassin lady (don't remember her name right off) from the back up story in the first arc and I'll be here for awhile longer. ;)

You must be telepathic!

Now, you wouldn't be joking on an old man, would you?

I'd love to see Ferreyra's version of her, while she's controlling 5-6 guns, all floating around her.

J.R. Rand
04-28-2005, 05:56 AM
Actually, Mike's getting a little confused. The next psychic assassin lady is an empath - and she's even freakier than Miss Evelyn MacBride. ;)

I'll bear her in mind, Ken - but you should be interested to see what we've got coming up after the third arc. Another arc starring Owen and Co. (in a mystery story this time) and a rather significant change of direction to the book. :)

Hadn't noticed much chatter about this series. I think it's pretty good, although the most recent arc seemed rushed at the end there. I do like the short stories that have appeared at the end of each book, and the artwork and dialogue is great. The background is worth checking out in every comic because something odd always seem to occur.

Anyone else picking up this comic book?

Didn't really jump into the "must have monthly" pile.
But it's there in the back of the mind.

That was the original plan, but it has been changed to B&W. For the only copy of the color version in existence, check out SHADOWHAWK #2 which has a 5-page color preview.

I enjoyed the first arc quite a bit. The art is drool-worthy (I'm crushed we won't have a chance to see it in colour). The writing's solid too. I still have to track down issue #9 before I take a crack at the second arc, but I'm expecting good things.

Good book.

There's a Small Gods Special out next week (maybe) featuring the characters from the first two story arcs, #10 starts a new arc. So you're good to go.

Cool.

You get the chance, stop on over to the Small Gods forum and let the boys know what you think. They love hearing from new readers.

You have to track down #7, Juan's storytelling abilities really shine in this issue. Hands down, the best drawn chase seen I've seen in my 26 years of comic buying.

I just seen your post over there about what issues you got and wondered if it was the same guy.

Like hobbes said, if you can't find the rest of the issues, Jason might be able to hook you up when he gets back next week. If he can't, one of the regulars on the forum probably can.

$14 Canadian is pretty good value for an Image trade...

Unfortunately there will be no more trades of Small Gods, so if you're waiting.... you can stop. Go get the single issues! I just did yesterday and I'm all caught up except for the Special.

Seriously? Has the book ended prematurely?

Seriously? Has the book ended prematurely?

No, they just don't intend to do anymore trades. Strictly single issues each month (with a month break between story arcs).

Headhunter
08-22-2005, 07:13 PM
Wha, why would they possibly want to discontinue collected editions?

CoreyB
08-23-2005, 01:26 PM
If the first trade sells better or the singles sell out, there will be more trades. But it doesn't seem like there's any immediate plans.

EDIT: See the Small Gods message board at Image.com. That's where I'm getting the info. Hopefully I'm relaying it accurately this time.

I just finished reading this, and J. R. Rand...you were right (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=1294647&postcount=6), Ms. Fierro is definitely dangerous. Add to that pissed off, and seemingly insane. All of which end up making a very, pardon the pun, explosive situation for the military.

What exactly is it that Hanley sees? Is he seeing the life force in people (or maybe heat signatures) or does he see actions taken by the recently deceased? I'm guessing the former, but the latter would be kind of cool.

I am eagerly awaiting the next issue.

P.S.
Regarding your post from up top...what exactly is the "significant change of direction" you alluded to?

I just read this. Loved it. Crissy is a bad-assed bitch.

Great artistic style, as we watched through her own eyes as she butchered everyone at the compound.

It's my fault. Any time I subscribe to a comic that isn't from the big two based on previews, it gets cancelled. Except for Walking Dead.

Damn.
I really like Small Gods. Great book.

R.I.P. Hopefully it's just a comic book death.

Added to this years list...
Fallen Angel (but back in Dec.!!)
The Symbiotes (arggh! It is the old wound my king, it has never healed!)
Elsinore (back soon maybe?)
Small Gods (even the wife liked it!)

Hopefully "Dorothy" and "100 Girls" stay healthy!!

That's disappointing. But I think the creators and Image should be commended for getting 13 issues out there. That's a LOT more than most other series get.

Which, I suppose, is little consolation.

J.R. Rand

Yeah, not a whole lot...but it'll do for now. :)

Gilda, you and Andy Speed over at comiXtreme - it's all your fault.

;)

Adventurer, yeah, we're finishing out the third arc for the sake of our readers.

And yeah, Ken, we're all still alive and moving on. I've still got Helios, Juan and I and the rest of the team are going to be working on a new Shadowline book for Jim Valentino and Juan's just been revealed as the new artist for Rex Mundi, starting with #16.
