I think Wizard did a casting call once and picked Pierce Brosnan. They had a pic of him with a beard, mustache and all, and he totally looked like Doc Strange.

Can't think of anyone else at the moment so I'll go with him.

I don't know why this popped into my head but I think Leonard Nimoy could pull it off. Tall, distinguished looking, sounds like he is really smart, deep voice, what else do you need?

I really don't see anyone other than Pierce Brosnan in the role. And I seriously doubt he'd turn down another potential franchise what with Bond over.

The real problem, though, is would a Dr. Strange movie sell? And would a studio have enough faith in it to give it a decent budget?

Well with the first one never making a real dent and the fact that magic seems to be vogue what with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings being huge franchises I could see a company going for it with the right script.

I never thought there would be a Ghost Rider movie but its getting made.

You're right of course: for some bizarre reason I forgot about the success of the Harry Potter movies/LotR trilogy :D Oops.

It seems like one of those movies that could write itself, but so did the Hulk (and I loved the Hulk). As long as Tim Rothman has nothing to do with it, it could work.

Wait, which studio actually does hold the rights to a Dr. Strange movie?

Christopher Walken.

Sorry. I just said that to make myself laugh. Picture it, it's funny.

All kidding aside, I think Gary Oldman would be good in this role. As for the studio, I think Marvel has something in the works with Paramount.

"The idea behind the slate is to gain more control of our future," said Marvel Studios chairman Avi Arad. "Marvel, by licensing films, left on the table sizable amounts of money."

The Manhattan-based company signed a deal for up to 10 of the films over eight years to be distributed by Paramount Pictures, which will only be paid distribution fees rather than keeping the bulk of the profits as studios did with past Marvel movies. And Marvel will not have to share toy or merchandise royalties with studios.

In addition to Captain America, Marvel is planning to produce films featuring the Avengers as well as Nick Fury, an Army hero and spy who has been given an infinitely long life by an elixir.

Helping clear the way, Marvel also announced a settlement with Stan Lee, the company's chairman emeritus and co-creator of characters including Spider-Man and The Hulk, who had sued for a share of past and future film, TV and merchandise profits. The settlement with Lee, who joined Marvel in 1939, cost Marvel a $10-million first-quarter charge.

"Also headed for the big screen are Ant-Man, Black Panther, Killraven, Silver Surfer and Thor, Marvel said. Plus there are original videos planned for Iron Man and Dr. Strange. - April 29, 2005 source: writerswrite.com

Burt Reynolds or Tom Seleck.

Though I don't think Burt would sound right.

David Strathairn. When I saw him in LA Confidential, I thought he looked exactly like Dr. Strange.

Yeah, like the Punisher. Both these charecters ain't really mainstream

I'm gonna go with Pierce Brosnan. Clive Owen might be able to do the business as well

Of DOC is a mainstream Marvel charecter!
he was created in the 60's by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko (same guys who created Spiderman)

Has Pierce Brosnan himself said anything about making a DOC movie?

I don't think so, we're just saying who WE would like to see if the project ever gets off the ground.

If they do it, I think it has to be done seriously. Not with the hint of camp that Fantastic Four appears to be made. They'd probably change the costume, mainly because it's too bright. Though I think the cloak of levitation is quite cool. They'd probably go with the trenchcoat look. I think Strange would play best as a thriller. You should fear the things that Strange has to face. While it's not as popular as LOTRs or the Matrix, I think Strange should have a set number of movies to show the depth and weight of what Strange does. But that'll never happen.
