Just what the title says...Is it the most valuable city to DCU?

Not from a monetary way but if it were too fall to some criminal mastermind would other cities be like "Oh my god."

Probably, but I think Batman, and the other Bat Fam, would likely find a way to
free the city from any certain mastermind and the city would return to it's
previous status quo (crime bosses and all).

MOST Valuable...not quite. Metropolis probably hold that title.

Probably the 2nd most valuable, but the MOST corrupt.

Hasn't that happened several times before... In fact didn't a two criminal master minds slaughter the populous with bio-weapons...then wasn't it utterly destroyed and expelled from the nation and no gave crap...

It was also taken over by Deacon Blackfire. So between The Cult, Contagion, whatever the sequel to Contagion was called, and Cataclysm - that's four times that Gotham has been destroyed/taken over during a five year period (assuming that Bruce Wayne has been Batman for about 12 years). I think this pretty much is Gotham's status quo - at least since Batman's been around.

So Gotham has been destroyed 4 times in 5 years??? Why does anyone still live there. How to they repair the city so freakishly fast?

There's no sequel to contagion that affected gotham city , legacy is about batman finding out who released the plague.

Gotham was not destroyed except for Cataclysm which turned it into NML.
Batman : The cult , martial law was declared on gotham city.
In contagion , gotham city was quarantined.
In catalysm , gotham city was pretty much destroyed with the earthquake and the US government cut off all contacts and sealed off gotham from the rest of the US. It was actually Luthor that rescued and rebuild gotham and in the process , got himself a good rep that got him into becoming president.

Is Gotham more important to the world then Metropolis? I always thought that was the beacon of civilization and Gotham was the city that everyone, besides bats, had given up on. Wouldnt metropolis falling into the hands of an evil mastermind be even more of a shock?

Metropolis have its own fair share of disasters.
Metropolis underwent its own "earthquake" event thanks to luthor underground bombs which destroyed most of the city in "The fall of metropolis" storyline.

The city was eventually rebuild thanks to Zatanna's magic.

Then , Metropolis was transformed into future tech by Brainiac-13.
The city was besieged by super villains looking for superman during "ending battle"
Later , the future tech was creating a time storm , the severe time vortex created havoc within metropolis and brought about mr majestic to the DCU if i'm not wrong.

In any case the answer is no... Apprarently rest of the world could care less whatever the fate of this city may be given it's past tragedies...And the lack of enthuasim to aide it

Yeah, it has more character and depth than Metropolis in my opinion (the only other DCU city that has any claim to the top spot).

I think both cities have had their share of shocking events, but something tells me that people care more about Metropolis than they do about Gotham.

I agree with that statement. However, I still think most people look on Gotham as a steaming cesspool of scum, disease, and crime.
