I dont know really what issues he did. I only have a...i think classic xmen issues that reprinted 3 of them. Art is top notch and i would certainly say somewhat better than many of the superstars of today such as cassidey or quietly.

I'll trade those, they are highly graded and I'll give you a great deal pm me if your interested. As for the originals.... well it doesn't matter because 57-63 are in poor condition.

I should have every issue he wrote..... but none are in good grade. I do have a lot of Art Adams autographed stuff, those are in good grade.
He never wrote any... he was the artist around issue 55-63ish
I only collect high grade stuff... and no reprints.
Thanks though!

I think he's second only to Jack Kirby. Most artists today could learn a thing or 2 about pacing, storytelling, composition and how to design a killer panel from Neal.

I see BladeAvenger is around again.
He e-mailed myself and a numbe rof tohers with a list of books he is seeling, he says to raise finds for an engagement ring.
I contacted him and discussed buying a number of books and wa sjust aobut to Paypal payment to him when I remembered we had a trade set-up that went sour last summer.
I e-mailed him reminding him of the details and am awaiting his response. I'm so glad I remembered before paying!
What happened was, I mailed my books to him and didn't receive anything in return. He didn't reply to any of my PM's or e-mails on the subject, and when I posted on this thread about it I still didn't hear anything. This was all last summer, so I'd pretty much forgotten all about it
I just wanted to mention my experience in case any of you are contacted by him; if our past trade gets resolved, i will post about it on here. it's possible there is an explanation for what happened and that he is sincere. but I also mention this wanting to know if anyone has had a successful trade with him or if anyone else also had problems.
I still want the books he is selling though. If we clear up what happened with the trade I would still be interested in buying from him. does anyone know of ways of protecting myself this time?
For example, of third-parties who hold the funds until the goods arrive? So that he would know the funds are available when he fulfills his half of the deal and doesn't have to take my word for it, while I can easily get my money back if there is a problem - or anything similar that offers some kind of buyer/purchase protection.

in the interests of fairness, I'd like to add to the above post that I received an e-mail from BladeAvenger (Daniel) that included this:
I sent the books, I'm sorry you never received them. After we made our deal, I seperated from my wife and no longer had internet access. Even now, I only have email access via work and no time to look over the trading thread, so I didn't know things had gone badly. I don't remember an email from you telling me you hadn't gotten the books
it is possible that i made all enquiries by Pm not e-mail, i can't say for sure i did e-mail him but i'd be surprised if i didn't. but to be fair to him it's possible i didn't. i think after posting on this thread (page 4, I believe) and hearing nothing i didn't expect to hear anything from him by any means and other than a final PM probably didn't try again. so it is fairly possible he's right about the e-mail.
but he later told me that he did do a numbe rof trades with folk off this thread, but as it's some time ago he can't recall the details or with whom. If you were one of those people i'd appreciate any feedback you had on that trade, whether it went well or went bad

I just wondered if other folk have had problems with trade packages not arriving, and if so how they dealt with the loss?
BladeAvenger decided not to send his parcel insured (I sent mine with insurance). to rmeind anyone who didn't read previous posts, he received my parcel of books safely, i didn't receive his.
He basically doesn't want to do anything with regard to compensating me for the loss. He doesn't want to return the books to me (not that I especially want them - afterall, that's why I was trading them) because then he'd be the one out of the pocket and he doesn't think that's fair. He can't make a claim against the postal authorities because the books weren't shipped insured. He's made no offer to ship alternate books to me, because again he would be out of pocket and effectively sent two lots of books in return for one parcel. which i do appreciate. i just don't see why i should be the one who is 100% out of pocket and he be the only one who gained through the trade.
I didn't expect to hear anything from him again, so i didn't keep all the trade details all this tiem - so i don't recall whether we agreed we would both send our packages insured or if i just automatically sent mine insured. With a (free) proof of postage, all shipments from the UK are automatically insured for up to $56.
I don't want to be unfair in my expectations or requests, hence my questions:
what I'm wondering is, if you were party to a trade in which one parcel didn't arrive, what agreement did you come to? if you haven't had that happen, but it were to, what do you think would be a fair resolution?

I don't think I've ever used insurance, I've never had a problem with a deilvery not making it either. Too me or from me. Good question, how should these things be resolved? Since we are all posting on the same thread (basically creating a "community" of traders), should we all, as such, agree on how these things should be resolved? Or leave it to the individuals involved to come to terms should it happen and leave it at that? For that matter, should insurance be a standard thing on all trades?
If we had something firmly "in place" it would serve to protect people and give people who were thinking of jumping in, but still a little unsure, some confidence that these things don't happen often and if so it's handled like such and such? Even a little feeling of security goes a long way.
Just a thought. It's always nice to get more traders and I would hate to see people swayed away by hearing of these kinds of negative things. Not to say it shouldn't be posted if there is an issue with someone who posts here, it most definetly should so we are all aware of the potential.

appreciate the feedback, illyana1.
and if anyone new reads this page, i would like to agree that this experience of mine shouldn't put anyone off - it's the only problem i've had at either end with any of the multiple trades that i've done. sometimes parcels take forever to arrive, but other than this one they always have done in the end. and when they've taken their time i blame myself for being cheap enough to only pay for the "take a long time" shipping option.
but other than this one instance i've been completely happy with all my trades here

As far as I know, venuscameback is the only person to have had a trading problem. When I started this thread and posted the rules, I dreaded this possibility but knew it would happen sooner or later. I can say that I'm glad we've gone this long.
I'm not really sure we can have a set of rules on the subject since we have no real way to enforce them except by having Brian ban them, but I'm sure he wouldn't want to just arbitrarily ban someone without hearing both sides first. So what I'll do is let you know what I do.
First of all, I think it needs to be said in the interest of the entire board, all trades are the responsibilities of the parties negotiating the trade. The CBR Forum claims no responsibility for trades that have "gone South."
Okay, try and do a bit of checking on the person you're thinking of trading with. I would trust just about anybody on these boards, but I would be wary of someone with a small amount of posts or a user I don't really recognize. Such was the case with illyana1. He had some stuff I was interested in, but with very few posts, I couldn't tell if he was just fishing for suckers. But I took the chance, traded a few PMs, and we were able to work out a deal, and I'm looking forward to trading with him again in the future.
Second, if you're using the USPS and shipping media mail, insurance isn't that expenseive. $1.30 for up to $50 of insurance. I always put insurance on my packages, and I always include delivery confirmation (an extra $.55). The delivery confirmation is proof that I mailed the object (and I always give the # to the person I'm trading with), and if the trader says they never received it, I can check online to see if they're lying. If they're not lying and they didn't receive the package, well, that's what the insurance is for. I've been trading books and selling them on Ebay almost every week since June, and I've only had one instance when I've actually had to use the insurance. It's a long process, but the buyer (this was an eBay thing) got his money back through the insurance, and I wasn't out any money since I was able to keep what he paid me. It works out for everyone.
Now, this is something that I didn't want to do, but a bad trade forced me to. I no longer do international trades...except for a rare exception here and there. I worked out a trade with a guy from Canada through emails (I think he saw my posting on another site). I was going to get the first two seasons of Family Guy on DVD, and he was going to get Ultimate Spider-Man #s 20-30. I sent my stuff off without insurance because, even though I was only shipping to Canada, it was still expensive. I received some emails from him saying he didn't receive my stuff, and I replied saying he never received mine, and soon his emails just stopped coming. And since there was no insurance, I took a decent loss on those books. So now I only do international trades where it will be worth it to spend the money for insurance.
Anyways, I always recommend some form of insurance and/or tracking, but it's ultimately up to you.

Great suggestions Borateen. I'd like to throw this one out there.
If a trade looks "to good to be true" then it most likely is. If something doesn't feel right ask that person to give you a list of references and if after you check them and you still feel uncomfortable. Either ask them to send first or don't go through with the trade.
And always insist on a form of tracking on a higher priced trade. Also don't be afraid to ask the person for the tracking #.
And last but not least don't ever trade more than you can afford to lose.
Thats just my .02

Also a good idea. And folks, if somebody DOES ask for some trading references, don't be offended. These message boards are completely anonymous, and it never hurts to be safe.
And I'll say it again: tracking and insurance (on items shipped in the US to a location in the US....sorry international people) is pretty cheap. $.55 for delivery confirmation, and $1.30 for the first $50 of insurance on a media mail package.

I had a bad trade with CURSD BLADE a number of months back. I posted the details on here at the time. He recieved my stuff (and my PM's), but I never got my stuff or any kind of response from him ever. As far as I know he hasn't been back on the boards since.
Still I've probably had 10-20 good trades on here and only the one bad trade (and I actually had 1 or 2 good trades with CURSD BLADE before this incident).
But I like the idea of bringing bad trades to the boards attention by posting it on here. If someone comes through, posts can always be edited to say nothing.

Okay, here it is. I visited The Trade Paperback List (http://tplist.com/) to find out what's out there and what I want. The site was mostly clear, but he sometimes had mini-series listed, and I'm not 100% sure all of them have been collected...but if it looked interesting, I included it. Also, Prestige Format one-shots were also listed, but I'm not interested in those. So if you're going through my list and happen to spot something that isn't a TPB, HC, or OGN but is in fact just a little prestige format one-shot (or mini), let me know so I can take it off my list.
It's long (17 pages), so I'm including it as an attachment. It's a Zipped Word document, which I'm hoping everyone will be able to open, but if you're having difficulty, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Okay, I've thinned some stuff out of my collection that I'm never going to read again and/or not going to finish the run they belong to. These are all going in an auction if you guys don't want them! If you are interested in making a trade or have a question please email or private message me. I'm interested in any Conan, Tarzan, Batman, JSA, Green Lantern, and Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man you might want to trade. However I'm not too picky, so just make me an offer with whatever you've got. I hope that I can help somebody finish up a run with some of these books :).
Any books that have been marked "*" are in less than near mint condition.
I am in Canada which will increase shipping for folks in the US or elsewhere.

I'm looking for Cavewoman comics. I know little about this title. A friend is in to this comic, but says he's having trouble finding them. His birthday is coming up and I'd like to give him some. Easier said that done, I found out! No comic shops in my area carry back issues, so I'm trying the internet.
Any help would be appreciated. His birthday is not until late April.
Thanks

Where in Wisconsin are you? Did you try Collector's Edge? They have TONS of stuff and three locations in Milwaukee, check their website. Beware though that they charge strictly to guide prices.
There has never been anything I couldn't find there, just wasn't always willing to pay their asking price. If you or your friend haven't checked it out, give it a shot.

Like I said they have three locations, the closest to downtown would be the one on KK, which is also the "main" store.
The address is 2330 Sth Kinnnickinnic Ave, the phone number is 414-481-5055. Here's the website. (http://www.collectorsedgecomics.com/Locations/0Main.asp)

As some of the regular visitors to this thread may have noticed, it's been unstickied. I'm sure Brian has his reasons, and it's still a somewhat active thread, so I don't forsee it being lost in obscurity (I'll still be posting my updated lists every week). Let's all just be thankful that Brian didn't delete the thread and that we'll still be able to trade.

Yes, thankful indeed.
I am surprised no one ever attempted to start a website dedicated solely to trading comics. Maybe they did and I just missed it. I know there is a newsgroup kinda thing, sequential swap, for trading trades; not much for just trading comics. I've looked and this has been the best, most active I've yet to find. Maybe the comic crowd in general just isn't into trading.

From looking at other sites, I'm finding that most are into selling rather than trading.

When Rita's was unstickied, there was a slow trickle of folks dropping by asking what happened. People had to keep explaining over and over, again. I didn't want to cause that here, so I searched first, but never found the words "sticky" or "stickied." Maybe I should've tried "front page".
Anyway, why isn't the Trading Thread still stickied? I thought it might have something to do with the reason Rita's was, but if there's no profanity here, that shouldn't be an issue. If it's a "fairness" issue, I'd have to respectfully disagree.
Anyway, thanks, in advance.

This is the second time it's been asked, and I still don't have an answer. I guess I'll PM Brian to see what's up, but as I mentioned earlier, I'm not worried about the thread falling into obscurity. It will hinder new folks easily finding it, though, since a lot of boards have their own FORUMS dedicated to trading (or selling...but I don't like to say that word on here too often ;) ). I'll let everyone know what Brian has to say.

Straight from the horse's mouth (no disrespect intended, Brian:
I dropped a bunch of stickies when I added the "Guide to the Community Board."
The reason The Trading thread was stickied was so people would be able to get to it easily.
Well, in the Guide, the Trading Thread is linked to in there, the third thing listed in the guide!
But tell ya what, for the next week, I'll add a parentheses that says "(Includes link to Trading Thread)".
-Brian
So there you have it. Regulars, I would suggest subscribing to this thread. You can do that through the "Thread Tools" pull-down at the top of the page. That way you'll be emailed whenever a new post is made to the thread. Since Brian has included a link in the Guide to the Community Board that is stickied on the first page of the Community Forum, I'm sure most newbies will see it from there.
So don't worry...it's still alive!

Finished trades with Borateen and Illyana (I think), the Illyana trade was very good the comics were in great condition. Borateen, actually threw in a comic I was really looking for, the condition were off but the addition he made to the trade saved me the trouble of buying a Thor trade.
I am half-way done with a trade from Venus (he sent 2 boxs 1 came 2 weeks earlier then the estimate time!) and everything is going great and just made a huge trade with Ryan Kirk.

Yes indeed, you did do a trade with me. I forgot to post feedback for you as to how smooth the trade went, sorry about that. I was very pleased with the books I got and am glad you were on your end.

i've never made a trade on here before, but would like to get started eventually. a few people made offers but ended up falling through. i have a 170/100% on ebay so i keep up my end of the bargain. i also used to trade tpb's a bit on this one site where its whole stick was trading tpb's, but for the life of me i cant remember the name of it. also i need to stick to trades in north america only. overseas shipping is just to steep.
