I hope JMS completly ignores it and gives Bendis a big F YOU!! Gwen needs to stay dead and everythign needs to go back to how it is now when this thing is over, Im all for M changing a few things in the Marvel Universe but after all those years after what Mackie did leading up to JMS reuniting those two I don't wanna have to deal with that shit again, I love MJ and they better not touch her or Ill be seriously pissed. I never read any of the old gwen novels and after sins past I don't think highly of her at all anyways. so yea if Bendis pulls this stunt (which I doubt will be one of the scenarios that comes true as quoted in wizard where they list like 7 possibilities and say 1 will hold) there needs to be some serious petitioning

Heh Don't worry man. That's definately not gonna happen. Almost everybody I know that likes comic books and is reading this is hoping the same thing. Everybody loves MJ, except for the die-hard Gwen fans and a few out there that just plain hate her. Bendis definately won't let that stick. Look at it this way. I think that all this really is, is a look into what almost everybody in the MU really, REALLY wants out of life. Just a little peak into their heart's desires. With a little backstory to give it a plot. Just don't give yourself a coronary about it. ;) Everything, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 things in the Marvel U, will most likely be back to normal. :D

They tried to kill her of before. But we would didn´t have any of that then. We won´t have it this either. If it happends I think we can blame Quesada more than Bendis. It´s him who hates Peter and MJ together, or so I´ve heard.
Yeah, I just hope PAD and JMS totally ignore whatever Bendis and Waid are doing with House of M.

They can't really ignore it. Whatever changes happen will probably stick. Having said that, JMS has gone on the record, I believe, to say that Pete and MJ splitting up is not on the cards. So I'm just curious to see exactly what does change.

No! Betty was such a winer. If she even saw Pete in the same room as another woman she would freak out, and when she always did freak out, she would date someone else making Pete feel like trash when he did nothing wrong. Betty was insane.

Spiderman and MJ should break up as MJ is vapid. But rest easy as i can see no way in which they actually would break up given the scope of House of M. At the most Spiderman remembers being married to a decent human being, but even then, having him leave MJ because of not living up to the ideal would do more harm than the good of spliting him up from her would do.

Excuse me but in what way is MJ vapid? As I see it there´s no reasnoble explination to break the two of them up. Their relationship has been to hell and back again and they still stand strong together. They´ve seen the worst and best of eachother and the love is still there. I can go on and on because nothing good can come out of breaking up Peter and Mary Jane. They make it work despite all the crap they´re put through and it show the maturity that Peter has achived so... I´m just repeating myself now.

All you have to do is look at the aforementioned sins past. Goblin was able to raise his kids. If Mary Jane was anything other than the self absorbed skeeze that she is, that wouldnt have happened, as mary jane would have looked into the where abouts of said babies. But she didnt.

Not that I think this is going to happen, but if Marvel OKed that then JMS would have to go along. He works for Marvel, remember?

PS I don't know if House of M will have any real long-term effect on Spider-Man or anyone else, but if it does, would be too much trouble to undo the Gwen had the Green Goblin's children storyline (which made me decide that Spider-Man is not worth buying anymore). I mean, that's got to rank up with the Spider-clone story as one of the low points in Spidey history, in my opinion. I'd happily accept the Spidey is the clone story over the Gwen story, if given the choice.

Sins past makes no sense from any angle.
It doesn't fit in the timeline and it didn't fit in the way that either Gwen or Norman acted back then. Why should MJ have been left out of the character butchering? :p

Your right. Even if we wanted them to break up, there is no way short of death ( even then it's not all that certain) that they could be broken up.

Actually I think that JMS should be called out for that. Sins Past was a bad arc in what is otherwise a good run of ASM (my opinion anyway). Sins Past doesn't fit into any type of continuity that I know of. Although it would be perfect for House of M, since it warps reality.
As a character MJ has always been supportive of Peter and loves him to death. It's like being a cop's wife x 100.

I can't believe Marvel would do this. Gwen isn;t coming back, unless it's a cheap trick, alternate universe or dream sequence. She means nothing alive, her death means a lot to the characters in the Spider-man world.
I'm a huge MJ fan too. Peter and MJ are probably comics' most perfect couple. They just belong together.

Thank God we can rest assured that marriage isn't going anywhere (AGAIN) Marvel just needs to let that marriage stick for good and not go there anymore. I like whats going on in Amazing now, and I like the fact they are involving Pete's family in his superhero life with the avengers, it will make for a lot of good story to work with
Personally I wish they would have used it to bring back baby May instead, hell I would even love it if they used it to bring back Ben Reilly (and thus Kain) so long as they leave the whole who is the clone thing dead and buried. I would def buy a Scarlet SPider monthly though

They're not going to bring Little May back because as has been explained before, children age characters. Having her growing up would really put a clock on Peter and MJ's lives, and thus I don't really see it working. Besides something like this won't affect the entire 616 universe as Marvel is claiming House of M will. Though, I agree with you that, if they brought Ben back, I would read a Scarlet Spider title as well.

When she was alive and Peter dated her, she used to whine a LOT, and spend most of her time running for her daddy. She's was sort of a spoiled princess type.
MJ is neither shallow nor brain-dead. The shallow partygirl act is just that, an act. MJ is actually a very deep person. And she's smart as a whip too. When Gwen got snatched up by baddies, all she could do is yell and scream (and eventually, die). MJ can usually (given a decent writer) handle herself much better. See the Amazing Spider-Man Annual #19, where MJ uses her wits to keep Alaistair Smythe and his Spider-Slayer occupied for hours while Peter searches for her.

Eh...I dunno. I actually re-read Marvels last night, and I think Gwen comes off as a bit of a cipher in that book. She seems to exist (in that story) primarily for Phil Sheldon to project onto.

I may be looking more at Alex's art than the writing (although her anger and resignation at her father's death rang pretty true) but the images of her standing in the "rain" after the battle tell me exactly why people love her.

To add a edge to SPiderman becuase no one other then Uncle Ben died. They needed to give him a dark side. They need to give him motavtion other then Uncle Ben. Gwen just had a pampered life. When she met Peter she kinda gotten out of it. But thats not the point. MJ had always grew up in the street. Of course she is going to be smarter then Gwen becuase she kinda had to fend for herself. Gwen on the other hand had things handed to her. Now she never really had to fend for herself becuase her dad protected her. She was Daddy's little girl. And i think if Gwen comes back they can put to rest the whole Superkids. And i think Gwen was a great character and as we can see he still loves Gwen as much as he loves MJ and he feels he owes Gwen the univerous becuase he feels he killed her..which he kinda did. So I really think that we should put this whole Gwen thing down to rest becuase if you havent realized it already.....this whole House of M is basically a House of What Ifs becuase Scarlet Witch is using her special powers to make new realities.

Gwen was a special character, especially if you read ASM at the time. She was one of the earliest truly good things to enter Peter's life since the death of Uncle Ben. Seeing her die at the time was meaningful for a lot of readers and her character still resonates with some of us old timers. Still, MJ is a great character in her own right and Peter deserves her. If they do anything to retcon Gwen's history I hope it's the horrible Sins Past storyline. I had to give up ASM due to that. :mad:

Nope, Stan Lee created Gwen to be Spidey's girlfriend. That's why Gwen looks so much like a young Mrs. Lee. The decision to kill her didn't come til many years later. Stan had sort of written himself into a box (turning Gwen into a the whiny princess), and Gerry Conway didn't know what to do with Gwen. He thought that there was nowhere for Pete and Gwen's relationship to go except marriage, and nobody wanted to marry off Pete. After consulting with John Romita Sr., it was decided that someone had to die. And Romita suggested offing Gwen. Hence, ASM #121.
I don't even think those guys really understood what they were doing. No one had ever killed the superhero's girl before, and no superhero had ever failed to save his girl's life. And they just did it because they didn't know what else to do with her.

Arrrgh! Enough with Gwen, already! Here all these writers have been going on about how it was this great defining moment when Gwen died... but they won't leave her dead! I'm so sick of her coming back and back and back, even when it's not her in the flesh.
The whole thing that made Gwen's death poignant was that she supposedly really WAS dead, and Pete had to deal with it. Every clone, replicant, illegitimate child and holographic projection further cheapens the whole event and makes it less interesting.
