It's a fun summer action movie. A lot of it is predictable, but some of it isn't. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie turn in very serviceable performances, there's a lot of funny dialogue, and while none of the action sequences will achieve immortal fame, they're all nicely done.

If you like the genre, you'll most likely enjoy this movie. If you hate summer popcorn flicks, avoid.

I would have been happier to have seen this at the $6.50 matinee price, but even at $8.50 full price, I wasn't gypped.

How close is this to the original TV show? (I'm assuming it's based more on the short lived television series than the Hitchcock movie)

I have never heard of either the Hitchcock movie or the TV show, so I have no idea whatsoever.

Probably not much, though. The humor was quite 21st century.

It was actually better than expected. Pretty fun. The preivews made it look really, really crappy, so I was skeptical, but it was alright.

And if the Hitchcock movie is the one where the couple finds out that they're not really married, then, it's nothing like it at all.

My wife and I want to see that. I was worried about some of the negative reviews that were popping up. But is it just a fun, don't-think-too-hard, summer action flick? Because if so, I wouldn't mind shelling out $6 for a matinee showing on Wednesday or Thursday.

if that's what you want, that's exactly what you'll get. went with a group of friends on friday night and we had a great time. has several gaping plot holes with a rushed conclusion, but all in all a very entertaining movie. go see it and enjoy yourself.

I'm sure that Pitt and Jolie have enough presence and charm to make up for the plot holes of the movie.

My wife won't go see it because she says that Angelina Jolie is a slut. That sucks because that's why I want to see it! Yeah, and I think that Brad Pitt is a pretty cool actor. I guess I'll rent it.

My wife won't go see it because she says that Angelina Jolie is a slut.

That's interesting... I've overheard variations of that remark on the bus, and then I heard someone at the office dismiss it because "Brad Pitt's a creep who cheated on his wife." I honestly wonder if the box office is going to take a hit because of the personal-life stuff. It's already overshadowing most of the publicity push for the movie.

Personally, I'm a big superspy-movie geek all the way back to Bond, Flint, and Helm, and this looks totally like my kind of thing. So we'll probably see it. But I promised MY wife we'd get to Sith first.

My wife went with me to see Ep III. She wanted to watch it too. I'm going to drag her to Batman Begins, but that's probably it for the summer, unless she she wants to see something.

This film, like Oceans Eleven, reminds me how cool Brad Pitt can be. Angelina was hot as always. I just wished there was more Vince Vaughn.

The director is a favourite of mine, so I'll go see it soon, though I'm not expecting a life-changing experience.

I've noticed most of the negative reviews pan it for being a fun, summer, action flick. If that's what you're looking for, then you should go see it, it's lots of fun.

SO from your point of view... it's an enjoyable movie.... looks interesting and so they are both against each other or are they on the same side

Okay, cool. I wasn't expecting it to be "The Bourne Identity" - though I like that film. I was hoping for a fun, action flick that I didn't have to think too much during. But I want to make sure it's a GOOD fun, action flick.

What's the on screen sexual chemistry like between Pitt and Lara Croft? Bearing in mind Joey Triviani's theory that hot chemistry on screen=no chemistry offscreen, the idiots who idolise these sexy, hot thespians might be able to draw conclusions about the rumoured relationship betwixt these two cards.

Don't know if I can go by the theory of a fictional character, but yeah, they come off pretty hot together in the film. Shoot, I'm a straight black man, and even I found myself lookiing at Brad Pitt like, "Damn, that Brad Pitt's not a bad lookin' man!" Of course I was more mesmerized by Angelina's magic lips!

All things considered, it's a fun film with some very well-shot action, but Pitt and Jolie make it all worth it. I can't see Nicole Kidman in that movie, as it was originally.

They do. If there had been so so actors with decent looks on screen it probably wouldn't have been as good as it was but both Pitt and Jolie are so charming and likable that it pushes the movie up a few notches. Plus I think Jolie is so sexy without seeming to try to be it just makes it all the better.

You know what I noticed watching this film? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt look like Jim Lee drawings come to life! Especially Angelina. That jaw is just classic Lee.

I have an interesting in seeing this film, but right now it's not my top priority as far as summer movies go.

Because I am very sure the next summer movie I check out right now will be Nolan's "Batman Begins".

Mr. and Mrs. Smith can wait till next week I'm afraid. Still, it does look good, and the reviews have been better than expected.

From an email of a friend, describing her reaction to a scene where Angelina takes off her coat to reveal a vinyl dominatrix outfit underneath.

"That's funny. I wasn't a lesbian until a minute ago."

The tag-line for this could have been "Domestic Violence has never been so hilarious!". The fight between Pitt and Jolie in their house was great stuff. What was really amazing was how the male and female segments of the audience were cheating and laughing uproariously at different parts. The rest of the movie was good too, with snappy-but-not-obnoxious banter and more good gags.

I know it's from the director of the Bourne Identity, but this movie's closest cousin would be True Lies. But with both spouses having the same secret, the wife being a hundred times hotter, and the husband speaking perfect english.
This isn't a movie that goes for plausibility in any way, so expect ludicrous car chases, narrow escapes from massive explosions, and gun-kata.

Now then, I'm not one to condone cheating...however, after seeing this movie, if the rumours are true and Brad did cheat on Jen, well, I understand.

I was going to see Cinderella Man today, but saw Mr. & Mrs Smith instead when my wife said she'd like to see Cinderella Man this coming weekend. I thought Mr & Mrs Smith was slow starting, very entertaining in the middle, but too over-the-top stupid from the end of the car chase until the end of the movie. I give it two stars out of five.

I knolw what she means -- I wasn't straight until I saw the promo-poster with Angelina in the black evening dress and high heels, with the slit right up her thigh. Damn.

I liked the film, it was hilarious. And yeah, the battle scene in the house was hilarious. It suffered from being a *little* overdone -- fair enough they have an unusual relationship, but seriously, Brad was kicking her in the stomach for a good couple of minutes. Given that the pair really did care about each other -- and heck, Brad gives up and lowers his gun first -- the overdone violence was more of a minus than a plus.

Still. I *loved* how we started off (and then ended) in the marriage councillor's office. That was cool.

I saw this flick last night. For the most part it was an enjoyable popcorn movie ... it had it's fair share of plot holes but overall not bad.
The ending, however, was poorly done. Not much seemed to be resolved at all.

I just assumed that the people at that Costco store thing that the Smiths killed were ALL the agents of both companies.

...meh, it's easier than not thinking about it.

My own assumption is that while it may not have been *all* their agents, they lost enough that they went "ok, making an example is one thing, 'zero tolerance' human resources policies are one thing, but we're going BANKRUPT tryin' to kill these two. it is no longer cost-effective to keep chasing them. screw it, they wanna retire? let 'em."

Well, she's deliberately kept out of sight of the camera down behind that couch for a reason. And given how spry she was when she got back up, she was most likely blocking those kicks with her arms. Anybody who repeatedly gets hit in the solar plexus will *NOT* be moving like that for a couple of hours.

Besides, he soooooooooo got paid back for it. Was I the only one who, when I saw Brad laying in the footwork, immediately went '... and in a few seconds, her foot's going to come right back up into frame and nail him square in the ballsack?'

And lo, it did. :)

One of the critics reviews I read went something like this:

'Normally, the scene of a man kicking a prone woman repeatedly (even if she's not visible to the camera) would horrify the viewer. But with Angelina Jolie's character, your only reaction was "Damn, when she gets back up, he is *SO* in trouble."

I must have been on a serious high after seeing SWIII and Batman Begins. Because I forgot how badly Hollywood movies can suck. I found Mr. and Mrs. Smith absolutely awful. I ended up walking out on it. It made no sense and was just dumb and boring. It was almost like watching a bad re-make of 'War of the Roses'.

Unless you're really stoked to see this. I would advise renting it.

I dont know, I found "Mr. And Mrs. Smith" to be a very enjoyable, summer popcorn, film. Lots of action, and the chemistry between Angelina and Brad was very apparent.

No where near as good as Nolan's Batman Begins, or Lucas' Episode 3, but a fun ride.

And Angelina in a dominatrix outfit in any movie is just fine with me.

I really enjoyed it. I saw it and Batman Begins on Thursday with the missus and had a great time with each one. I think being married helps appreciate this movie a little better, or perhaps just being in a long term relationship. I think if I was swingin' single I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did.

Well, she *was* trying to kill him. And the way it was filmed, it was for comedic effect. I think it worked quite well, when he's delivering those enthusastic kicks kicking her with the couch in blocking the view of her on the floor, there was uproarious laughter. Then when he got kicked in the balls, there was even more...mixed in with the sound of all the males crossing their legs and going "oooooooh....."
