So, who's seen this pilot from Warren Ellis' inspired comicbook?

Just finished downloading and watching it. Most of the torrent sites that are still up have it. Obviously I can't put up links to it.

Though it was rough around the edges, the team did pretty good work. Good setup for subsequent storylines anyway.

What I liked...
Overall good story and pacing. This is a modified version of the issue 1 of the GF comicbook. Same subject, similar outcome, but different location and main characters.

Special FX and action scenes were top notch for TV. Awesome corpse, cool shockwave effects, well shot fight scenes. Alot happens in this episode and everything looked pretty great.

What needed work...
Unlike some other pilots I've seen, there's very little I had problems with on this one.

Some of the performances could have been better. Aleph didn't pull off her lines and reactions too well. Few more takes could have done it I think. Miranda was pretty good as the episode went on, but she had some rough spots in the beginning.

What did everyone else think?

Loved it. I'm gonna find that Dr. Katrina Finch and marry her.

I have a vague memory that the excellent Michelle Forbes was involved in it. Is that right?

Indeed she was. She played Miranda Zero. It's a shame, man. A damn shame.

She really played Miranda Zero? Oh, yeah, that's a shame, I would really have liked to see that. I've always liked Michelle Forbes, especially in Homicide. And JMS was supposed to be the Global Frequency showrunner or something like that? That's really too bad.

I'm pretty sure JMS was/is not involved.

Did anyone else get a vibe watching this that it could have been our replacement for X-Files. Back when it was good, ofcourse.

The subject matter and character dynamics reminded me alot of X-Files.

Actually, he was:

"Since it's no longer an issue, because the show was not picked up, the series
I'd mentioned that had come to me to talk about coming aboard as an EP was
Warren Ellis' Global Frequency. I'd met with the people involved, been
approved by the network, went by to meet Warren during filming in Vancouver,
who seemed like a very nice sort, and was waiting for the next round of serious
conversations...but the show has not been picked up by WB. I know they're
shopping it elsewhere, so we'll see, but for now, at least, that's that."

Hopefully, someone will have it at the conventions.

Hey guys... more on the Global Frequency Pilot: John Rogers just did a profile interview with us down at www.silverbulletcomics.com - he drops a bunch of little tidbits on what was planned for the show:

“We had a great little plan where the conspiracy freak on the pilot has a mad crush on Aleph. And so every time he’d show himself on screen, it would be incredibly awkward. And it’s just one of those little things we had – you’ll never see this guy, he’ll never even be able to get her, but it’s one of those great things where you fly a guy in once every third episode."

He also talks about a ton of other stuff, including his stint on the Cosby Show, the whole 'Catwoman thing', piracy and the film industry, and more for those who are interested :)

Interview can be found here (http://www.silverbulletcomics.com/news/story.php?a=500).

Finally saw it. In my opinion the wb were really stupid to pass on this as I thought it could have made a great series. Michelle forbes was fantastic as miranda zero.

Just watched it and had to immediately call people and tell them to get it. Its fantastic, x-files/alias and 24 wrapped into a really cool idea.

Just watched it. Was much better than the majority of the crap on TV nowadays. Very surprised that this hasn't been picked up.

Christ that was a blast from the past.

muppets...maybe the original show wouldn't have blown the bloody doors off, but it looked interesting enough despite the X-Filesing of the central idea.

Lets not count our whatsits and such.

Fringe is circling the drain in the ratings.

And, man, do I need to find my Global Frequency DVD and watch it again. That pilot was great.

This means bad.
Why?
Second attempt in the same network means that nothing is going to be same as it was before. They are going to be saying "Now, we are giving you folks a second chance but we are going to need some cooperation from your side." AKA make changes the exects say no question.

Not necessarily. It could mean new management thinks old management made a mistake back in 2005 when they passed on the pilot.
