Didn't see a thread yet on this one so I don't know if that's a bad sign or not. Personally, I liked this issue and thought it got the series back on track (wasn't a big fan of #2) but it has made me re-evaluate my stance somewhat on who Batman should be.
While I'm enjoying this series, I realize that a lot of it is from nostalgia. I can't see today's audience (many of whom have come in after DKR) going for a Batman that can be knocked out by Two-Face not once but twice in one book (all right, the second time was by Two-Faces clone).
But there does seem to be a lot of people looking for a more human Batman so, like a lot of things, the best answer seems to be somewhere in the middle-not a return to the bronze age Batman whole-heartedly but tempering the current incarnation, making him more human. Didio's comments about seeing more of Bruce Wayne, etc., makes me hope this is the direction the character will travel.
Also, Winnick has hit a nice medium. Or at least I've been pretty happy with the characterization anyway.

It's a little too romantic. It does harken back to older Batman comics and though I'd like to see Bruce get little more tender and not be such a tight ass...the scenes with Silver are a bit over the top.

Personally I think it's the best Batman series out there.
I'm of the DK generation (I started collecting Batman in 1985) and then began to work my way back... and after having read the older stuff find I prefer it. Especially the Adams ear, and the mid-80's-mid-90's Aparo and Breyfogle versions.
The romance was a bit over the top this issue but I'll take that over the crap in Gotham Knights and Batman ANYDAY. Detective is the best regular Bat book (not counting his offshoot books like the far superior Batgirl!) on the stands, IMO of course!
I'm also likeing the twice a month schedule!!!

I hear ya, this is the best Batman comic on the stands, with Detective Comics in at a close second. I'm really enjoying both arcs.

My two immediate reactions upon reading this issue:
1) Good lord, was Silver always this boring? Yeesh. Now I'm really glad they killed her off in "Bruce Wayne - Murderer".
2) A Harvey Dent clone. A Harvey Dent...clone. Oh, for God's sake...

I'm finding this series disappointing--I remember when the first Englehart/Rogers series appeared; maybe my problem is that that was SO much better than what was then going on with the Batman elsewhere, or I was so much a younger, newer comicbook reader that it really impressed me. Haven't gone back to that series in a long while (well, a'course I still got it!) and perhaps it'd strike me as no longer so special.
But I'm finding the dialogue tired, and the artwork merely (heh) well done. I guess I'd've rather they'd tried to do something with the Batman contemporary (not necessarily "dark knightish", but sharper, finer tuned) than try to re-capture those golden days.

It was Vesper Fairchild that was killed off in the Bruce Wayne Murderer story

I'm enjoying Dark Detective. I personally prefer seeing older techniques of comic book storytelling used. It's nice to see thought balloons used, particularly when we had a chance to see Silver's thoughts. The thing about Silver/Bruce's relationship is that the reader knows its going to end badly, its just a matter of seeing what's going to happen that leads to this end.
Also, for a book that seems to hark back to the Bronze Age, there's not too many virtuous people in this story. Silver is cheating on her fiance with Bruce and Bruce is not even acting on the pretense that it is the best thing for Silver's life, and acknowledges that he is ceding to his selfish desires. Not exactly virtuous behavior from the more "heroic" version of Batman that appears in this story. Yet, He's more relatable because we have access to his thoughts and he's very open about what he's looking for. Ironically, it's the Scarecrow's fear drug that allowed him to feel this moment of fleeting happiness.
As for the rest of the book, it's so cool. I like the use of Doctor Double X and Ifelt Harvey's happiness upon his meeting his twin and his sadness when he lost him. Although I wonder if there's another clone running around that looks like Harvey's scarred side? And after what happened to the clone, you know that Harvey is coming for the Joker.
Three more issues to go before we lose Batman again. At least there's a Matt Wagner Batman story and possibly Grant Morrison on Detective Comics to look forward to (I'm on the fence about "All Star Batman," the stuff Frank Miller said on interviews is making me dread it).

Oh, yeah, it was, wasn't it? Huh. I suppose that's testimony, then, to just how totally interchangeable all of Bruce's non-Selina-or-Talia girlfriends have been. Where the heck is Silver these days, then?

I do like this book and old school style. It's much better seeing Bruce as a human, not the bat-jerk or bat-god.
But I thought cloning people is illegal in America? Or maybe in DCU there's a little difference. I'm a little disapointed when the clone was killed off so quickly - I think it's an interesting character and I'd like to see more between Two-Face and "Harvey".
