That's a rather unimpressive track listing.

That's a rather unimpressive track listing.

Tell me about it.

Of the two disc set of "Essential" Iron Maiden, I could live without the first disc in its entireity.

You'd probably need 4 CDs to do a proper Maiden Greatest Hits compilation.

And there'd still be unhappy people.

Quite frankly, if you want a collection of Essential Iron Maiden, just buy the damn regular albums.

Or just get Live After Death.

Better known as "One of the Greatest Live Albums of All Time!"

My thoughts exactly.

Although I do understand the band's desire to put together a greatest hits album, this "Essential" compilation isn't it.

not to be cliche or anything, but eh...no hallowed be thy name? what planet are those guys living on now?

and most assuredly "murders in the rue morgue" and "sanctuary" should be on a maiden essentials compilation.

that's definitely a really weird track list. but as others have basically said, a complete, definitive maiden essential set would just consist of the first five albums in their entirety. maybe somewhere in time and seventh son if you want to get deep into it, but the first five definitely.
