With computers doubling their power and speed every few years and cgi actors inching closer and closer to a point were no one will be able to tell the diffrence between flesh and computer code. Do you think it will ever happen and when?
Recent movies are showing the way, sky captain, sin city and of couse almost all of the latest star wars movie backgrounds only excisted inside a computer.
This might be wonderfull, but one day some one is going to have a new John Wayne in a new John wayne movie all done in a computer. I would not like that. CGI people work best as fantacy I hope they never bring dead legends back to life!

Well if you count the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then yes.
John Woo is already planning on releasing a CGI Ninja Turtles movie in a year or so.

Hopefully a Silver Surfer movie will be completely CGI. It would be the perfect movie for that because the one thing CGI still does not do well is create realistic looking people. If the Surfer CGI movie was set in outer space you could avoid having anyone that looks human.

I think we'll see an all CGI superhero movie one day but I think it's years away. I think we'll see CGI superhero movies like "THE INCREDIBLES" with "cartoony" looking characters fairly soon but not "FINAL FANTASY" type realism. As much as I love the look of "FF" many people are really put off by the look of realistic CGI characters. People complained theat the CGI people in "FF" and that Tom Hanks movie looked "creepy".
Of course doing a CGI superhero movie has so many advantages it's only a matter of time before they eventually are done.

"The Incredibles" and "GIJoe: Valor vs. Venom" are already completely cgi movies.

Aside from the fact some movies have already been made.
CG could easily be the best option for many superheroe franchises that would not work as live action. It is becomming cheaper and cheaper to do effects via CG. If the story is good enough and the right actors are hired to promote it then they could make a really good movie from it.
What else depends on whether they wasnt a realistic style look like produced by Square Films (Final Fantasy, Animatrix), or the more cartoonish feel that other companies produce.
Square Films have great in quailty and given the right script they could produce an excellent looking flim.

I really like the stuff they did with "FF" and "Animatrix", have they done other films or shorts?

Only one to my knowledge, and that is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children a movie sequal to the FF7. But that is still to be released in the US or Europe (which sucks).
I think they may have some control over the CG sequences in FF games as well, looking at FFX-2s sequences. But that's only speculation by me.
