I'd rather have Triumph the Insult Dog as Gambit.

How about Steven Seagal? :D

Sounds about right to me. Van Damme is about exactly the level of talent I think the role of Gambit deserves.

In case it's not clear, I hate Gambit.

It was very clear.

But Van Damme does have the accent and can pull of the moves. But, no. That shouldn't be allowed

If you want a 40-something Gambit who can't act, by all means.

Jean Claude or Rob?

Hell, Van Damme cant even get hired these days for a low budget horror movie named, "FEAST" (as shown on Project Greenlight). I highly doubt he'll be getting any juicy roles in Fox's big budget, multi million dollar X-Men franchise anytime soon.

Nor should he. :evilsmile

In the Early to Mid 90's, yes. Now, no. Unless they can make him look twenty years younger.

Jean Claude.

But if RVD did have a French Accent then maybe.

I rememeber reading he was Wizard's pick for their Casting Call section before the X movie franchise were even released. That was like way back when.

Wizards casting is about what and what.

Sometimes they can cast a film fairly well.

But then sometimes they completely miss the target.

Fabio as Thor? LMAO :D

I never saw the Thor one, but man if that's true, that's is dam funny. lol

I remember them choosing Rutger Hauer as Magneto, which I thought was a good choice.

Van Damme is (bad pun coming up) too damn old to play gambit. I like Jesse Spencer, the actor who plays the Australian kid on House, M.D.

too old, and he's too short, anyway.

They were spot on with thinking Patrick Stewart would make a good Xavier and Alan Cummings would be good as Nightcrawler.

Basing a decision on that, I'd rather see Phil Helmuth as Gambit.

If this was the early 90's then yes..he would be a good pick to play Gambit. But now I just don't see It. His age and demons Is too much to really put Into this.

Gambit will replace Wolverine as most rumors have said In X4 thru X6 so they need to lure some young kid who can connect with babes. I'm thinking Paul Walker or Josh Harnett . Gambit's role will be the guy who gets Rogue. So makes sense. ;)

Back when he was in Hard Target, he pretty much came off as Gambit to me. But you're right, too old now.

Yes , Van Damme as Gambit but only if "The govenor" Arnold Schwezwhatshisname becomes Colossus , Dolph Lungren as Magneto , Sly Stallone as Cyclops , Bruce Willis as Wolverine , Jackie Chan as Sunfire , Jet Li as Silver Samurai , Mark Dascasco as Havoc , Steven Seagal as Mr. Sinister & Vin Diesel as Professor X. ;)

Funny. To me, he came off as a Belgian trying to be this weird ass version of a Cajun. All he needed was a thermos of Jumbalaya, an Accordian & say "Gar-ron-tee" ever third sentance. He'd be set then.

Nearing 50, and no closer to being a decent actor now, than he was 20 years ago, Van Damme has got to be the worst choice to play the part!

There are a few people who come to mind, the first being Ben Foster who's been on Six Feet Under as Claire's sexually ambiguous art-school sometime boyfriend for the last few seasons. He's a great actor, and I think he could really work the hell out of it. He was also really creepy in Hostage with Bruce Willis a few months ago.

The second is Ryan Gosling of True Believer, Murder By Numbers, and IIRC, the Notebook.

The third is Michael Pitt formerly of Dawson's Creek, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Bully, the Dreamers, and Gus Van Sandt's the Last Days.

Irrelevant. Jackman's 6'4 and Marsden had to wear platform shoes to make him eye level.

Claire was an utter bitch last season, and only had two redeeming points. Helping David, and her conversation with mommy when she was stoned!

But I agree, he'd make an interesting Gambit.

It's true. I still got the issue somewhere, but this was during the mid 90's if I remember correctly.
Even still, it's a fine example of WIZARD's hit and miss casting decisions. Because that was definately one of the most horrid casting decisions of all time.

Yeah, I remember the Rutger Hauer as Magneto casting. Fine choice, IMHO. And to be honest, I could only imagine Hauer as Magneto until Singer's X-Men debuted.

They also had Clancy Brown as Sabretooth. Wish that one happened. Rutger Hauer still would make a decent Magneto.

Oh well maybe when X-Men Begins comes out in 2013.

I think the Six Feet Under comment was fine, because it was a response to my statement, and it DID come back around to the topic at hand.

I know what you mean.

Like everytime I was watching HBO's "Carnivale", I kept thinking that Clancy Brown would have been an awesome Sabretooth. He's much more charasmatic than Tyler Mane, and I dont think Clancy would have come across as just a thug either.
