Man! There seems to be a lot of good stuff out right now, a bunch of stuff I can't buy all at once. Here's my list of what I want to get right now:
Arcade Fire- Funeral
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory
Heck , I'd like to get the new Coldplay and Audioslave, too.
And I know it's a week away, but the new Foo Fighters is on my list.
Oh yeah, and Beck's Guero.
What on your 'want to get' list?

I have about 27 textfiles full of "to-get" records, but I'm working through my backlog of CDs right now so it should be awhile before I get anything new. I'm tempted to still pick up Interpol's "Antics," the Killers' "Hot Fuss," and the new Gorillaz CD ahead of time, though.

i rarely buy CDs that have just come out. the majority of my music purchases are mid60s to mid80s. the only newer stuff i buy is metal. i'm looking forward to:
-demons and wizards new album
-still need to get the new judas priest and the new mystic prophecy

I earn enough money to buy whatever CDs I feel like buying. Finding time to actually listen to them properly is another matter, though.

The only thing that I really want to get right now is the new self-titled Paradise Lost. I'm having a hard time downloading it, and I'm pretty sure the local music store won't have a copy.

Hey Heffe!
You should look into emusic, http://www.emusic.com
You can try it out, and get 50 free downloads (ligitmately). They have alot of indie labels, and have the Arcade Fire, Spoon, and Motion City Soundtrack albums that you're looking for.
They'll get the Murphy's too, when it comes out on the 21st.
Don't know if you're a I Need to Own the CD type of guy, but you might want to look into it.
(Plus, tell them I sent you, and I get 10 dls ... I'm just saying)

I was going to say that, since I've downloaded all three of those albums within the last month through e-music. And it's only around 25 cents a track and there are no restrictions on the songs you get. It's a great deal (unless you do actually need to have the physical albums, which I understand).
Anyways, I've resigned myself to never actually catching up with all the music I want. But I haven't picked up the new System of a Down, Finch, or White Stripes albums yet.

The new White Stripes and Dropkick Murphys are on my list of new stuff to get. I also have an insane amount of older music to catch up on. I've been getting into Tom Waits' seventies stuff lately, and I need to get a bunch of those albums.
There's also an album I heard one song off a few weeks ago that I need to track down - Steve Turner's Big Ideas. Even the good music store in town doesn't have it, although they could probably order it for me.

I was thinking about getting it, but I'm figuring it's down on the list in order of priority.

My most wanted CD right now is probably Belle & Sebastian's Push Barman To Open Old Wounds.

Actually, that's pretty much what I'm doing: I offer a lot of CDs to my friends and family. Usually, they hate them.

Yes he does. Saw him blow the roof off the place when he did the solo to "You Shook Me All Night Long" at a Melissa Etheridge concert a few years back.

I'm not taking shots, but there's just so much I want to get that a solo album from him doesn't immediately jump to the top of my list.
el heffe:
Spoon - Gimme Fiction I bought this recently myself and I definitely recommend it. This was my first exposure to the band, but I'm so impressed that I think I'll probably start working backwards and getting their earlier stuff.
Howyadpin: What are the essential Dopkick Murphys songs/albums? I heard one of their cd's being played a few years back in a used record store and was immediately hooked, but never found out which album it was; and the few songs I've heard since didn't match what I'd heard previously. So which Dropkick Murphy osngs should I dwnload or whcih cd should I buy?

I heard a couple of tracks off the new Southern Culture On The Skids album on the radio the other day. Might have to add that to the list, as well as some of their back catalogue.

On new stuff I can't honestly think of anything.
I've recently been able to get a new Cat Empire album, a new Beck album, a new Eels album, a new Weezer album and new White Stripes album.
I've had such a great year of music I don't know what could make it better.
(maybe a better Kills album than No Wow, or another Scisscor Sisters or Coral one... but as was said earlier finding the time to give them all the attention they deserve is what's hard.)

I've been buying a lot of records lately. A lot of jazz albums come out in the springtime since there are so many jazz festivals and stuff during the summer. I still would like to get Joshua Redman's latest, Terrance Blanchard's latest.

I hear Brian Eno's got a new album out, haven't checked to see what it's named yet; but I heard a snippet of one track and I'll almost certainly be buying it.
and thanks to Howyadoin and ExpletiveDeleted for the suggestions (Dropkick Murphys & Spoon, respectively).

Another Day On Earth
Haven't heard it myself, but so far it's gotten some good reviews (only a few though, since it only came out today).
And I second (or third?) that Spoon suggestion, Spoon are an amazing band. If you want more piano-driven stuff from them you should check out Girls Can Tell or Kill The Moonlight (Girls is better), for more rocking Pixies-type stuff (when they first started out The Pixies were who they were most often compared to) you should go with A Series of Sneaks or Telephono (if you can find it and you've got some money to burn).

I'll probablt be getting the new Coldplay as well; love that "Talk" song - anyine else notice the guitar riff is taken from an old Kraftwer song, "Computer Love" IIRC? I've been trying to place where I heard it before and it just came to me then.

So, so worth it! Definitely one of my favorite personal musical discoveries.
My own list is currently topped by an album by Chavez... I'm trying to decide between "Gone Glimmering" and "Ride the Fader." But it'll be awhile before I buy another record, since I'm only up to 1998 in listening to my backlog of CDs...
