I've found that most media players don't do a very good job of reorganising MP3 files in bulk. I have iTunes (the iPod is my mum's, by the way) and a number of other players on my PC. I'm currently looking at something called MediaMonkey, which is supposed to be good for the job.

D'you mean something that lets you actually change the names or folderification of the mp3 files, or something that just lets you find and play the mp3s?
An awesome program for ID3-tagging and file renaming is ID3-TagIT, but it won't help with folder structures.

The first one.
I'll check out ID3-TagIT, thanks. It's free right? Shareware/freeware?

Yup, freeware. Brilliant, too; I'd been using ShufflePlay before, and ID3 made me realize how hopelessly clumsy that program was.

I think that's the one my friends use (ID3), or at least used to. They seem to love it. I tried it once and couldn't get the hang of it, then gave up. Now I just rename every file one by one.

God almighty, zombie, if you've got any volume of mp3s at all, give ID3 another try! You can define a format and either import information from the filename to the tag, or rename the file according to your format from the tag information. Renaming files one at a time takes foreeeeeever. . .

Yeah, but I just go in and rename them after I download an album, so it's not that bad. I might give this program a shot after I format my computer and start up downloading again.

I don't seem to be able to run ID3-TagIT after downloading it. Help please?
