Who do you think Cannoball should go out with? Im wondering what the general consensus is. Him being one of my favorite characters, I realized quick that he has dated a few different people. There also have been a few more that were attracted to him, but nothing ever happened.

Me, Ive always been fond of the Sam/Lila thing. The main reason Claremont originally created Lila was to be Sam's girlfriend, and because of that Claremont wrote her character to be a good fit for Sam. Of course, there is so much more to Lila than that (she's such an awesome character).

I don't have a good answer for this. Sam's one of my favourites too, so I'd like to see him with someone, but I'm not sure Lila is really well suited for him, mostly because their lifestyles keep them so seperate. Lila's great, don't get me wrong, but at this stage in his life as a character, Sam needs a relationship that runs a little deeper than what they had. For the same reasons, I don't see a return to Tabitha as viable.

Not sure who I would like to see him with, though. Probably someone with a good deal of depth to their character, somebody who's a strong character without him. Maybe someone he has a history with too. Maybe Dani would be a good choice. They're both intelligent, capable people, professional but passionate, deeply caring for those they're close to... could work.

Hey, they are from the South...

Anyway, I do like Lila a lot. But truthfully, the person Sam's best suited for (and vice versa) is Rahne. They just complement each other so well- they've got a ton in common, but each is also strong in areas where the other is weak. They have very different backgrounds, but similar values and belief systems, and Rahne is the kind of girl Sam could bring home to Ma Guthrie... but also has that wild side in her that would respond to Sam's rebellious X-Force streak.

They're just the best match, really. If Doug has to stay dead, then Rahne should be with Sam. It's the best choice.

That would be my answer if Rahne didn't hook up with Elixer. Now, after seeing that, I hope that Josh hooks up with Rahne, Magma, and Wallflower in some hot 4way marriage.

I am so old school on all these relationship things.

I choose Lila because it works. Sam seems strong- and patient- enough to handle the (unbelievably) long distance relationship. He just seems the rock to keep a flighty pop star grounded. I know they've had a fight, but did they even officially break up ever? As of X-Men #165, it still seemed solid.

I used to wish for Sam-Amara, when I was a gangly awkward teen and there was a cute blonde I was interested in. But I dunno if there's any basis for her to want him.

Tabitha cheated on him with his best friend. No dice, she's out.

Rahne and Sam seemed to have attractions to each other that missed their time window. I was kinda hoping they'd bring Warlock back- isn't he still functional?

Psylocke (although i prefer beast/locke). I mean Cannonball is perfect for Psylocke. He's able to ride shotgun, which is good for her. He's kinda gee whiz golly, which she likes

and hes younger than her, which she also seems to fancy

Sam should get Rogue. A southern belle for a southern boy. With Sams inpenetrable force field he shouldn't have any problems inthe contact department. All it would take is for writers to realize sam has shown great control over his power as far back as early X-Force and again when he beat Gladiator. Making his field skintigh shouldn't be too hard, especially with Rogue as the prize.

Meltdown cheated on Sam with Sunspot, not worth a second change. Marrow was a great idea at that time, but now changed to much. Lila is a bit to soft and Rahne to brave for Sam. My choice is MAGMA, a hot headed and tempered girl

Yeah, but that makes everyone but Magma lesbians... which given that they spent a lot of time with Storm during her mohawk and DMs phase, it kinda makes sense... ;)

Also, anyone noticed Sam's playing third wheel in C&D just now? I doubt Terry and Wade would notice if he just up and vamoosed... :D

That would have been a great relationship if it had been given a chance. Esp once Marrow got less grotesque. Too bad she's off the deep end now. (I haven't read Weapon X - correct me if I wrong..)

I've always like the idea of a Sam & Kitty pairing, probably because they were both seen and the "Jr. X-Man" before. Both being fairly driven, moral, honest, capable and intelligent helps too... they'd be perfect enough to make even Scott and Jean nauseous. :)

I can't believe Meltdown of all people is in second place. I know there's that tendency to want to stick with the couples you remember from when you started reading, but did they ever truly have any chemistry? I'm wracking my brain trying to remember a single time I ever thought they were great together, and I'm coming up short.

Of course, there were one or two X-Force annuals I never read, so I guess it's possible...

Like I said earlier, she was the character Sam was dating when I started reading. When I went back and read the begininng of their relationship I admit I thought it was forced. But at the same time I think they had a few bits of chemistry late durning New Mutants and during the first 40 or so issues of X-Force. I just thought they were a cute couple, especially whenever Tabitha dropped her guard a bit.

Cannonball plays off very well against his opposite, the dark enchantress, Lila Cheney. I find it endearing that Lila would fall so fast for a young ordinary Kentucky native like Sam. Also Lila brings out Sam's need to rebel. There's only one Lila Cheney in the Marvel Universe. I'm glad Claremont created her. Lila makes a stark contrast against Dazzler as well in their musical styles & image.

We'll probably see Lila Cheney make an appearance in New Excalibur since Dazzler is in the group & Lila owns a flat in the London...

I'd guess that, I'd expect any rich musician to have many houses, Robbie Williams has one in LA and London and a mansion in the country.

But they are always attached to their record companies. I pressume her hailing from the UK, she be attached to a British based one, so she would be as well.

I think they would make a great pairing wierdly. Sam's a Southern gentleman type who holds his words back and Jubilee just doesn't care. She'd let Sam have It and would be the type who he could really have some good romantic tension with at 1st.

If I couldn't have Meltdown. I would have to give him someone new. I would play off his personality and background. Being the nice guy older brother. He could have younger women interested in him. Maybe one of Paiges friends, but I doubt it. One of Josh's friends Hmmmmm...........Maybe someone looking for someone honest, after her boyfriend created on her.

When Sam left X-Force to join the X-men, Tabitha and Sam didnt get to see each other that much, for obvious reasons. When X-Force cut off ties with Cable and went roadtripping in X-Force 70, that pretty much meant that she wouldnt see Sam at all. Beforehand, X-Force lived at the mansion with the X-men after they all got sick of living in a bunker, or a hulkbuster base, or whatever. Tabitha and Bobby (Sunspot) started flirting in X-Force 73. Their affection for each other was really showing in X-Force 75. Sam was in this issue, but he didnt really notice what was going on, because they had to deal with Selene. In X-Force 76, Sam walked in on the two of them kissing, and he angrily left. Sam left the X-men in X-men 79, because he didnt felt like he belonged there. He was also not getting a lot of experience with teamwork because at the time, most of the team consisted of newbies (Marrow, Maggot, Cecelia Reyes), and so he left. In X-Force 83, Cannonball got into a fight at his farm in Kentucky with Arcadia DeVille, and ultimately SWORD and the Damocles Foundation, and Ulysses, one of the good deviants, teleported X-Force from the other side of the country to Kentucky to help them (the team consisted of Siryn, Warpath, Meltdown, Sunspot, Jesse Bedlam, Domino, and Dani Moonstar). Sam rejoined the team, and eventually he, Bobby, and Tabitha all made up. Eventually, this wouldnt have mattered much, since Tabitha dumped Bobby in X-Force 97, or so. In X-Force 98, Selene manipulated him and blackmailed him into being the new Black Rook for the new Inner Circle. When Moonstar and Domino both left because of Pete Wisdom becoming the new leader (Siryn already left), Sam and Tabby eventually got back together. The team disbanded not much later, and Sam joined X-Corps, and met up with Lila again in X-Treme X-men 24. I feel like DDM.

Referencing issues is just like citing page numbers of a book for a debate, or a thesis. Yes, I know Im not writing a thesis, but referencing issues makes my statements sound legitimate. If I know the issue in which an event happened, that sounds like I actually know what Im talking about.

As for bolding the issue numbers, well... I like to.

I always thought it would be interesting if Cannonball and Storm had a cross-generational/two squad leaders/older woman+younger man Ashton+Demi type affair. Nothing long term. Just a flirtation that crosses the line on occasion. Friends with benefits. It's something you'd expect neither to fall into, would provide all sorts of intra-character drama among the X-teams, and could provide some oft needed comedy.
