I really don't understand why people are complaining about John Byrnes art. Except for the cover of #827, I think his art in action comics is great! I am not a huge fan of Byrne but you have to give credit where credit is due.
Anyway, found a review that sums up what I think of the first two part story: http://www.icomics.com/rev_060805_actioncomics.shtml

I don't mean to de-rail the thread or anything, but since you're talking about Byrne's art on Action Comics I thought this would be the perfect place to put this.
All of Byrne's pencil art from #827

Man, the faces really were redrawn almost as much as Kirby's were.
Oooh, another parallel! :D

Liked this issue a lot. Good action, humour, plot twists and dead on characters who we give a damn about.
One thing I found funny was how much Black Adam seems to be becoming Namor. John Byrne draws them very similarly and now Adam is pulling the hero one day, bad guy the next but don't mess with me because I've got diplomatic immunity card like the Sub Mariner. If they ever do another Marvel/DC crossover those two have to get together and have coffee.

Totally agree. I'm not huge fan of Byrne's either but the inside of #827 was great. I didn't pick up my copy of #828 yet, but I saw the entire issue in raw pencils and it was beautiful even before the inker and colorist touched them. The last page of Superman flying with Lois was magic.

Uhm... I'd be scared at the prospect of what would happen when two arrogant, narcissistic guys who are that similar would meet up. It would either be the nastiest fight in the history of comics or they could use their respective positions of executive authority to declare a civil union that the UN would have to accept... At the threat of WAR.
The upside there is that Sue and Reed would finally get some quiet time, either way.

I am just glad they are finally making Namor wear something besides speedos.

Here's a great superhero crossover based on the Black Adam theme...

Back in the Silver Age, Namor was pretty much Marvel's number one stirrer of s***. I think everyone fought him at least once. He was the Juggernaught long before the Juggernaught was. ;)
Which leads to my one complaint about the issue. If anyone who read this issue wasn't clued in about the whole Infinate Crisis thing, they wouldn't have a clue what was going on. And I, who is at least reading Villians United, was left a bit cold by the ending. Black Adam and Zoom come and whisk Polaris away cuz they're brother villians.
Riiiiiiiight.
But other than that, and with Byrne's top notch art, this was a pretty good issue.

What nerve! What utter gall! Where do these Simone and Byrne persons get off having an entertaining story in only two issues?
Only two issues ... bah ... that's not an arc.
WHERE'S MY DECOMPRESSION !!??!!

You didn't hear the news?
Marvel just gave decompression a three year exclusive contract.
