On the varaint cover 4, the one drwan by cheung who is that ninja guy? I've heard it's Daredevil (which I find highly unlucky), or black panther (which seems reasonable) I just wanted to get confirmation 'cause it's driving me nuts guessing.
BTW: what's up with Capitan america on the quesada variant he looks messed up

He's the "mystery avenger"
Right now, we know his name is "Ronin" but no one knows who is behind the mask. We know that is NOT Daredevil or Matt Murdock, and we know that he appears somewhere in #7-10, the arc that deals mostly with the Sentry. The arc after the sentry arc should be mostly devoted to Ronin though.

Unless there is a new character brought in from the outside (which is entirely possible, given the series plotting so far) my bet is on Daredevil.
I'm betting that Bendis is waiting until after his run on Daredevil is over, to provide Matt an opportunity to walk into Stark Towers as Matt, and leave with the Avengers in another costume and continuing his service to hero-dom/mankind, etc.

Except Bendis has gone on record saying that it is NOT Matt Murdock, and the solicits for the trade of #7-10 say that it is NOT Daredevil.
My money is on an entirely new character or Iron Fist.

The SOLICITATIONS say that it isn't Daredevil. In all honesty, if it is, they could have false advertising on their hands. I mean, I can SEE doubting a writers words in an interview, or online... but the solicitations? The only time they've deceived anyone before, to my knowledge, is when Sentry was supposedly an established character, and when Unstable Molecules was depicted as "based on a true story." I mean, stranger things have happened to be sure, but I highly suspect that this ISN'T who everyone thinks.

My money's still on Matt Murdock. He's been outted as Daredevil, his reputation is down the tubes. He wants to join the New Avengers, but doesn't want to sully their reps as well. So he hangs up the Daredevil persona for a while, and adopts a new one. So he CAN join the New Avengers. If it really IS Daredevil, then that is the only possible excuse they can give for it.
Maybe it's Scout? Sentry's sidekick? He realises that the serum is dangerous and becomes a martial artist hero?

It's 'official' (whatever that means to Marvel) that the character is NOT Daredevil. Which, of course, leaves the possibility of it being Matt Murdock with another identity. Like some people said before, his reputation is crap, and doesn't want to bring that to the NA.

The internet will crack in half?
I'll put $1000.00 (american) on Ronin not being Matt Murdock.

I think it's an original character or someone more obscure, too, but it might be worth it to see your reaction! :D

not really. the characters name is ronin not daredevil. doesnt matter what the characters alias is matt murdock as long as the 'super heroe' name is different.

If it's not Matt Murdock, then it's probably the new white tiger (or whatever her name was). She's a bendis original, so he must have thought she was a good idea. And we know how he loves his original characters (cough*Jessica Jones*cough). Plus I think I remember reading an interview a long time ago saying the New Avengers would be getting a new female member shortly (shortly being relative, for Bendis)
Although I could have been thinking of Young Avengers...

The hell is the Jessica bashing? She's been in the odd issue of DD, which tied into the relationship he was building between it and Alias, her own two series, which were never concurrent, one PAGE of NA, and Heinberg made the call to use her in YA.

Didn't Bendis say that House of M #3 would crack the net in half? This could be the big surprise......or not.

But I doubt an entire remake of his persona and character. Most likely NOT gonna be Moon Knight.

who was the character that looked like archer from x-factor back in the day? he was on the first or second finch cover, it was a team shot and he was dressed in black and had a glass oval covering his head. he was doing some ninja pose too, i think.

Yeah, this one: http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/12464/400/12464_4_001.jpg
I think he/she is supposed to be the same as the green/yellow/grey ninja. Who knows ...

I really hope it's Iron Fist. Then him and Cage can team-up just like old times.
Also, Iron Fist's costume colors outline the ninja suit.

THAT - IS - AWESOME!
I still say Iron Fist because of the colors on the suit. Has anyone ever been called Ronin before? And Bendis has clearly stated this character is *not* new, right?

Me too. Bet he takes the mask off and Luke goes "Danny?! I thought Jess talked to you about your costume?"
"She did, she talked me into trying something new!" :D

Yeah, she wasn't diggin' the open-chested vest -- way too 70s.
Just found this link on Iron Fist. It's got a short, simple summary that I was looking for (never knew much about the guy myself).
http://www.toonopedia.com/ironfist.htm
"Iron Fist was Daniel Rand, an American orphaned at age 9 in the Himalayas and raised in the fabled city of K'un-L'un, one of those lost civilizations that have littered the Tibetan landscape since Shangri-La was first seen in 1937. He was brought up in a martial arts tradition; and when he came of age, competed for and won the Power of the Iron Fist. This entailed three things: miraculous healing power, the ability to use his hands as deadly weapons, and a fancy, dragon-shaped scar on his chest (transferred by mystic means from an actual dragon he fought in gaining the power), which his later superhero costume displayed to excellent effect. He then returned to America to seek vengeance on the man who killed his parents. He had a change of heart at the last minute, but the murderer was done in anyway by a band of ninjas, leaving Iron Fist to take the blame. A major continuing storyline in the early issues concerned his ultimately successful attempt to establish his innocence."
I can't remember ... was Ronin supposed to have healing powers or something?

AHAHAHAH!!
I just realized -- is that date of release right? New Avengers #11 on September 28th!? I love the book and really can't wait, but I'll believe THAT when I see it.

It might even be off, given the delays.

I admit, I do worry that, after all the talk about how McNiven is coming to help Finch with his deadline problems, McNiven might then bring his own difficulties in that area due to his tight Ultimate Secret schedule. New Avengers may not slide back onto schedule until Finch returns with #11.
Jake V

The release schedule for New Avengers should look like this:
New Avengers #6 Reg./Hitch Var. 06/22/05
New Avengers #7 Reg./Adams Var. Cvrs. 07/13/05
New Avengers #8 Reg./Romita Sr. Var. Cvrs. 08/03/05
New Avengers #9 Reg./Trimpe Var. Cvrs. 08/24/05
New Avengers #10 09/07/05
New Avengers #11 09/28/05
Given McNiven's lead time on #7-10, and Finch's lead time on #11, I'd tend to belive it for the most part.

Okay, this will happen if NA keeps getting delayed and The Pulse remains bimonthly (which slipped my mind when I made my previous post). Since we know that the artist didn't start drawing NA #10 until much later than originally thought, this could actually happen. Maybe...
NA isn't exactly known for being a punctual series.

I still think it's Nick Fury. It would explain why he's missing from SHIELD, it jives with the meaning of the Ronin name, it would explain why he's concealing his identity (which Iron Fist doesn't), there are Avengers ties, and he has some MA skills.
