I really fear that they are giving too much away with this. Unless Foxx isn't who I think it is. Then I would be surprised. Possibly delighted, but Remy-Rogue is one pairing that I have no emotional stake in

It's Rocky Horror Apocalypse!! I just hope she turns out to be Mystique, because Foxx isn't winning me as a character so far. But I'll wait and see once I see more about her. :p

Also, look at the blade she is carrying behind her back. Isnt that the same blade shape as the one Mystique used when she tried to kill Xavier in Mystique # 23? Its also on the cover of that issue, too.
Thanks, Sheldon.

one thing i like about this cover: text. outside of arc titles, marvel comics have had very little text on their covers since 2001. it makes the cover seem more involving than just another idyllic shot of wolverine or a team modeling shot.

I think Foxx looks cool.... but I can't help but notice that she's wearing the EXACT SAME outfit as EVERYONE towards the end of X-Treme... Especially that Kitty Cover. Salva really likes those buckles, straps, and laced boots, huh?

This is probably my biggest problem with Marvel today. Whatever happened to the good old covers where they would put words on it, and make it exciting? Look at almost any comic back in the 60's,70's,80's, or 90's. It made it so cool.
Im sick of these iconic shots of characters, or a team shot. Those I guess are fine for anniversary issues or specials, but not every single issue. Covers can still be good the way they are now, but they are so much better with more text on them.

Or something. *cough*
More variation on covers would be a good thing. More subtlety in storylines would also be appreciated

Foxx is too constipated to be taking a crap. Her face says she is constipated with evil.

Really, with Emma and X-23 around, Mystique coming on board, and now this psycho chick, I think we're heading for a new high-efficiency--if delightfully morally bankrupt--X-team. That is, the gals who get the job done while everyone else is standing around chirping about "teamwork" and "the dream" and how the X-Men don't kill. The Sisterhood, if you will. Just toss in Meryl Streep's Senator Shaw character from Jonathan Demme's remake of "The Manchurian Candidate," and I think we'd have a whole new X world. Here, Wanda Wanda Wanda. Got a nice Glock for ya....

Why would Emma put Foxx on Gambit's team?
Perhaps she knows that Foxx is Mystique and is using/helping her to throw off Gambit, Rogue and all of Alex's squad.
Perhaps Mystique was the shadowy figure at the end of Astonish #6

so she morphs into an animal like creature? yeah i think it is silly that Emma would put such a newcomer to an X squad without some sort of reason

Well, her looks considered, I think she's gotta be at least 17. I believe that all students of 15 are put onto squads...

Nice observation....I think the crucial factor is that whatever she is doing it is EVIL!
TrickyDisco
06-08-2005, 07:47 PM
Geez, she does look constipated indeed.....but take it from a chick, I've seen gals with more menacing and determined looks than that (not too often thank god!)....I'll be sure to use the "wow, you look kinda constipated" quote next time I face a chick like that, but it might get me killed :p
....or she is the long unknown/lost daughter of some long forgotten x-villain and is here to pay back in kind.
..or she might just be exactly what she is...a bad-ass (if slightly constipated) Lolita!
All possibilities should make for some interesting storylines sometime down the line...

Nice cover. Love the little butterfly and the "I'm evil...EVIL!" grin. The words are a nice touch and make it more than just a generic pin-up cover.

Oookay. Then who's the shadow-figure on her knees on the cover of...whazzit? 174? Thought THAT was Mystique.
Is this going to get weird because of the House of M&Ms? Mystique de-aging? Going punk? Going feral? Getting constipated?
Hurt, oh my brain cell--! Hurt!

Umm, okay. Just seems odd that Mystique'd feel the need to disguise herself as someone sort of crazy, creepy, scary, and skanky--when she's pretty much that way every day. Seems like a better disguise would include adjectives like "normal," "pleasant," or "nondescript." Like Kitty. Not like a Cuckoo.
Of course, Foxx (and I really--REALLY--can't see Mystique picking a tag like that--not without EXTREME chemical intervention) is younger. And less blue. Hmmm.

The name of the story arc is "Bizaare Love Triangle", so my bet is on "Foxx" being Mystique in disguise. Because the Mother (Mystique) vs. Daughter (Rogue) aspect of a battle for the affection of Handsome Young Man (Gambit) pretty much puts the "bizaare" in that love triangle.

Please tell me that dictionary entry won't appear on the final cover. You only find them in crappy term papers these days. :(
Other than that, she's kinda hot... in that creepy stay-away-from-me way.
Schellenberg
06-09-2005, 01:04 AM
Okay. I looked at it again. Yeah, yep, it's Junior Missy Mystique.
So it'll play like the world's best (or worst) April Fool's joke on Gambit (can't you hear Nightcrawler, all incredulous and horrified yet trying not to laugh: "You FELL for that?!?"), followed shortly by a new story arc, "The Death of Gambit"--as brought to us by Rogue. Which will likely lead to much rejoicing hereabouts, until six months or so down the pike, when Death realizes he kept the receipt and returns Gambit to the land o' the living.
This is still so weird. I can't help but think that Mystique fell on her head or something. Jaeger shots, Raven: just say no....

There's also the yellow eyes and blue costume motif that further gives credence tothe fact that it may be Mystique in disguise although if it's a new character, I'm equally excited to see new blood.

Well, she's been shown as a lesbian, and a straight woman. Plus she's taken the form of straight men... and probably gay men... She's quadrasexual...

I'm guessing Mystique's not interested in Remy himself so much as distancing him from her daughter. She's really just a manipulating mommy here.

Mystique's a polysexual metamorph. She's "does" whatever she wants.
She might prefer women but she's bumped nasties with Logan and Sabretooth before (even got a kid out of the latter). Compared to them, Remy's practically a lady. :P
Schellenberg

I like to think of Mystique as being as comfortably bi as it's possible to be! :)
Sudden thought when I was walking out of The Pit this morning:
What if this Foxx gal is a Mystique clone? In the Mystique series that Marvel just canceled, wasn't she in pursuit of a bunch of Eastern European types who'd managed to get ahold of some of her DNA? Thought she had a chance to destroy it, and--in typical old-fashioned "chaotic neutral" style--didn't.
I mean, it would be a mite close to the introduction of Wolvie-clone X-23, but maybe this is a Mystique copy. All the curves, twice the crazy. The all-new X-babies, starring Foxx, 23, and Nocturne. Ewww....
