Starting from Scratch.

Alright. My first day on the CBR boards. (And my first post here!) So, um, I want to put together an avatar. How would a I go about this. I'm (a) looking for a good Ninja Turtles avatar, and (b) computer illiterate, and therefore, (c) would need step-by-step instructions. Please advise. Gracias.

Go to google.com and run an image searh on ninja turtles. Then take it over to mspaint and crop it the way you want.

Avatars can be up to 80 pixels wide by 80 pixels high with a maximum file size of 20k. You can use either JPG or GIF format, and animations are okay.

Take your favorite image creation program like Photoshop, MS Paint, GIMP, etc., open your file in the program and crop and resize the image so that it fits within our dimensions. There are a number of free image generation programs out there.

After you have your image ready, click on "User CP" in the top menu. From there click "Edit Avatar" in the left hand menu. Follow the instructions.
