With the supposed shake up coming up, and the fact that after house of M all the x charecter will be up for grabs, what charecters fo you think each writer, will do anything they can to hold on to?

Milligan - Polaris (Letter page of 170)

Whedon - Kitty, Colossus

Claremont - Psylocke

Thats who I'd put money on... if I was rich... and stupid to bet on comics.

I think Astonishing stays the same. I can't see Whedon letting any of those characters go and I certainly can't see Marvel making him. I wouldn't be surprised if Whedon adds a member, my guess being Rogue.

I think Claremont would love to have Kitty, but like I said I don't see it happening. He's setting up Psylocke nicely in Uncanny so I don't see her going anywhere. Storm either.

But anything else I say is just guessing, because we really have no idea who Milligan would want, what his plans for the team are, etc. I don't recall reading any statements he's made where he's said he loves a particular character or anything. I think that book's in store for the most shakeups though. He's basically writing Austen's team (plus Emma) and I don't know how comfortable that makes him.

Plus we have to consider if certain characters will be gone/dead after the effects of House of M. Or if old characters will return. And that's not even taking into consideration any potential new characters.

I have a feeling that Claremont would love to get his mitts on Beast. Just because he's got Psylocke back now. And he could tell his Beast-Centric story that he had to drop due to Morrison's New X-Men. Plus there were heavy hints that he planned on hooking Beast/Betsy up in X-Treme. And given their interactions in Uncanny #460, I have a feeling that he has plans to rekindle that plotline. :)

I personally think that Claremont will do anything he can to hold on to Storm, and i think Claremont wants to hold on to Kitty Pryde, and Emma Frost

does Chris Claremont EVER want to get a hold of Kitty... we know almost certainly that he's snagging her for a cameo in New Excalibur. Unless there's a different brunette he talked about... hrmmmm... Moira, back from the dead?

but yeah, Claremont seems to have great things in store for Psylocke, Beast, Kitty, etc. (actually, I get the feeling he would like to be writing everything again, that he doesn't like other people messing with his toys)

Whedon wants Kitty and Piotr. Good for him. He seems to be enjoying writing Scott and Emma too... maybe he would do a Rogue/Beast swap?

I haven't gotten any Milligan yet- TPB's only for that title- so I have bo sense of his faves

I think that all the writers should make their demands to the editors, and the editors should, with reason and logic, sort things out and compromise. However, if a writer demands to have a character in his/her cast that he/she created, that creator automaticaly gets that character, as long as they dont abuse that.

Yeah, because if he wanted to claremont could conceivably take a WHOLE lotta charectersYes he could, and that is why I said "as long as the writer doesnt be obnoxious with that right". Also, Chris wouldnt do that. He has been writing the X-men for 20 years, and he understands that there are other books that need characters to fill them up, and I doubt he would take all the characters and fit them into his book.

I think that al the writers (excpet for CC) are forgetting about the characters who are in Limbo right now. There are so many sweet characters, and asking for them wouldnt cause any trouble, because no one else would be fighting for them. I mean, Chris is pulling out Captain Britain, Sage, Dazzler, Pete Wisdom, and others. He just pulled out Juggernaut and Nocturne, and nobody had a problem with it. It would just be stupid to have to have a lottery over Wolverine, or Kitty Pryde.

Exactly. I agree with you on that...thats why Claremont is unpredictable. Ever since his first run on Uncanny his rosters would change at the drop of a hat. Starting first with the death of Thunderbird, then having Jean rejoin, and then having her leave, and then have her rejoin and banshee leave, and then Jean died, Kitty took her place, Angel joined and then about seven issues later he left....Thats one reason he is so brilliant. He can handle large characters in a very reasonable way...

As for Kitty, Yes Claremont wants her back, he has stated that she is his favorite character....anyone remember when he said he wanted to make Kitty Frankling Richards nanny during his run on Fantastic Four??

Anyhow, I like What all the current writers, so Rosters donot really mean anything, but like Ryan Kirk said we donot know what old or new characters are going to come along so thats a major factor and from the look of things it looks like several old characters are returning...Look at Dazzler being on the New Excalibur.

I am just really excited is all I can say

There is no way that Whedon will take a cast that large. For pete's sake, he has a hard enough time with the six he's currently running.

And he favors certain characters, which would make it much harder to work more members into the book.

If you look at his other projects (ie Buffy and Angel), he always keeps his cast down to 5 or 6... With a few exceptions (last season of Buffy). He does well with a tight group of characters and would probably like to keep it like that...

Claremont clearly wants to keep Psylocke and Marvel Girl. I hope they both stay in Uncanny.
