Today I drove home with a family member and my drive way is right in front of my house. She went to hit the brake and hit the gas instead and went right into the house. There are cracks in the wall inside and you can see the fiberglass. The shelf inside has been completely moved out for and the drywall split. We are all ok but it is just freaky how stuff like that happens. What freak accidents have you all had?

Wow, that's unfortunate!
I nearly did that when my parents were trying to teach me to drive. I came within a foot of parking in the kitchen.
I was 15 at the time. I'm 26 now, and I haven't sat in the drivers' seat since. And I'm fine without knowing how to drive.

Really? You must live in a fairly big city, because I don't see how else you could get by without being able to drive yourself around.

Here in Europe, you don't really need a car. I'm 34 now and I'll try to get my license this summer, so I can get around better whenever I'm in Miami.

When I was in college I was commuting daily between the little town of Denton and Dallas. One night there was a HUGE storm with tons of wind and heavy lightening. All the car alarms outside my apartment were going off. I though "Hmm?"
I woke up the next morning to find that an entire oak tree had uprooted during the storm and parked itself in the passenger seat of my car!
I'd tell people "A tree crashed into my car!" and they be like "You crashed into a tree?"....me reiterating "No, the TREE crashed into my car!"

Thanks everybody! It is just crazy how stuff like that happens. My family members insurance will cover the work that needs to be done. I'm just thankful we didn't go all the way through. I thought about moving my bed room downstairs. Thank goodness I didn't and I think I'll stay upstairs.

Glad to hear you are both ok, but more importantly....
WERE ANY COMICS DAMAGED OR LOST IN THE ACCIDENT!?!?!?
Just trying to find a bit of humor ;)
A few years ago, a friend who is a lifelong NYCers was coming to CA on a business trip. Someone was work was going over his agenda. "Here's your airline info, your hotel info, and rental car info."
"Car?"

Man BC, that's a drag. Hope it all comes together soon.
When I was about seven, I was being bratty at a family party. My folks sent me out to sit in the car, and I decided to take it for a spin. Put it in drive, and it rolled down the driveway, right into another car.

Eh, it works out better than you might think. I've lived lots of places and I've never had a license. If you don't have one, you just live differently. I bike or bus most places, but I also have some cash set aside for taxis. My husband drives, so I've seen how well that works, but I don't think I'd ever want to get tied down to a car.

No thankfully all the comics were safely in a bin upstairs :) After a while I had to find some humor in all of it. I don't know how many TV shows I have watched that had that happen.
Glad to hear you are both ok, but more importantly....

I rammed through a foot thick pillar in my parents Dodge Caravan. Only scratched the paint on the van.
My most oddball accident (worthy of Scott Shaw) didn't involve a motor vehicle at all.
I was 5 and I was on a handpush merry-go-round (not sure what else to call them) and my father was pushing. All the neighborhood kids kept begging him to push faster and faster. A lot of kids back then would straddle the handles and pretend they were riding the flying bikes from E.T. Well, I stood up in the center and I was in just the right spot so that the force of the spinning platform thrust me a good fifteen or twenty feet up in the air and I landed on my head.
Still had to go to the emergency room but I got by with a few scrapes and bruises on my forehead. Thank goodness for the resliency of my young body at the time.
Miraculously, despite being in several car accidents, I've never broken a bone... except my collarbone (when I was born) and my big toe on both feet several times.

Try to avoid travelling with bad drivers in future, BC.
Life is one big freak accident, to answer your question.
