View Full Version : Nightwing's Role In Infinite Crisis
http://www.newsarama.com/wwphilly05/DC/WWPhilCrisis.htm
Reminded of comments he made to Wizard about Nightwing and Blue Beetle playing integral roles in the coming Crisis, Didio reiterated that Nightwing plays a very important role in everything going on and coming up
Seems like this means one of two things:
Dick's a goner or Dick's finally gonna be the Bat.
but dang, Devin sure has some serious work cut out for her to fix the poor book fast before October.

Part of me is jumping up and down at just what all this is going to mean for Dick. I doubt he's going to die or become Batman. In the Teen Titans book that pushed them into the future, Dick was alive... somewhere.
But man oh man, reading that article makes me so excited for what's to come!!

My prediction: Nightwing's book is cancelled as part of a big shakeup in the Bat-books. When the jump occurs, we no longer know who's Batman - it might be Bruce Wayne, it might be Dick Grayson, it might be someone else.
Eventually that's settled, of course, and Nightwing then gets a new series.

Nightwing ain't gonna be become Batman, Didio was stressing continually in the article about the importance of Batman as a flagship DC character and how he is ageless. Nightwing's not gonna die. But we know he'll have a big role, which pleases me enough. We'll just have to wait and see. Pity we've got 5 months to go...

Sure Batman is timeless...that dosen't mean Bruce Wayne is.

I think BW is timeless.
I would seriously be saying "WTF" if i read that Bruse Wayne wasn't Batman. Bruce Wayne is that Batman and the Batman is Bruce Wayne. As good as Dick is he couldn't be as good a Batman as BW.
Kinda the same reaction when i read that Spider-man was Ben Reilly and not Peter Parker. Spierder-Man is Peter Parker and Perer Parker is Spider-Man.
Sure the characters in the story wouldn't know but still...
But OTOH, would writers not write Batman as the second biggest dick in DCU if it were Dick in the suit?

batman = bruce wayne.
you can't separate the two of them.
i can understand speculation or even wild guessing...but nightwing becoming batman?
first, that would destroy the character.
hasn't he worked so hard to become his own person?
and second, it makes no sense.

^^My point exactly. Being Batman isn't something Nightwing wants. He is his own person. Bruce Wayne is Batman. Simple.

A mid twenty something Robin smells too Schumachery.
Ugh, I hope they don't screw up Dick's life badly... again.
Blah. DC already killed and raped Sue, killed Beetled and made Max Lord the evil mastermind who killed Beetle. Ugh.

Bruce Wayne not being Batman would probably go over as well as Jean Paul Valley's short stint as Bats.

Replace Bruce as Bats just after the new Batman film comes out? I don't think so...

Actually given the disaster the book is in, it would make sense for the book to be scrapped and re-booted.

No way is Dick going to become the Blue Beetle. Can you imagine trying to explain to people Dick Grayson's history? "He was the original Robin for decades, then he became Nightwing for about twenty years now he is Blue Beetle III." Yeah, that's a good way to build his character back up.

Ominously, Didio has now said that the question of who would become Batman if Bruce could no longer continue in the role will be addressed in IC. (Read the article at Newsarama (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=35268).

Ol' Leon just got back into comics. Infinite Crisis looks like a must-buy, but this article wasn't giving me an exact date. When is the release date for the first issue of this? I'm doing some basic math based on what was said about February issues relating to Infinite Crisis #5, and that means October...right?
What about the prelude issue? I saw something about this, but to be honest, it was during my hiatus, and I don't recall when it was/will be released.
Thanks in advance. I need to start paying closer attention... ;)
There was Countdown to Infinite Crisis which costed $1 US and it came out around March I think might be hard to find. From that came 4 mini series OMAC Project, Day of Vengeance, Villians United and Rann-Thanagar War. All of those will help set the stage for Infinitie Crisis.

I think there is a chance that he does become batman for whatever reason. Though Batman (when written correctly) is intreasting to read he is in some ways flat. Having a new bat with new motives for being the bat would put some energy and life into it. On that note if Dick does become the bat it will be retconned in no more then two years.
Dick's a Green Lantern!!!!
hey they gave kyle a ring didnt they

Maybe after the OMAC debacle and the fallout in Infinite Crisis, the JLA and others force Bruce Wayne out of the superhero business for awhile. But Gotham and the JLA need a Batman...
I'd be all for a new Nightwing # 1. Get Grayson out of there though. I want Dixon and Breyfogle!

Would Bruce give up "his mission" that easily?

no way.bruce is obsessed with being batman.the only way he would give up is if he died.i wonder if he does.....he could later get resurrected lets face it isnt he about the only hero who hasnt died and came back?

What if Bruce Wayne become more of a "Kingdom Come-style Batman"? Have him work exclusively from the cave directing the Bat-family. Of course, Gotham still needs a Batman, and Dick would fill the role.
I say this because I can't see Bruce giving up his war on crime, but maybe his history has caught up with him and he simply can't do the job anymore after whatever fallout is going to happen with the JLA.
Maybe Superman cripples him. Who knows?

I like that. Bruce become the new oracle. Or perhaps he wants to go back to having a secret identity. Announce that he is giving up the cape and then have a new batman show up. Then have supes use his x-ray vision and see dick grayson. Mystery solved. Not quite. Soon a new batman pops up and this one has some sort of sheild so supes cant use his x-ray vision. Throw a third bats in the mix and nobody not even the superheros know who the fuck batman is. Then if it seems the general public is responding well to dick becoming batman go with that otherwise reveal it was bruce the whole time. By the way Dixon sucked on nightwing. Grayson rules.
