Hawkeye!
Scarlet Witch!
Wonder Man!
Quicksilver!
Reformed villians make some of the best Avengers. Which villian would make a good addition to the team if they decided to straighten up and fly right?

Mr Sinister would make a great Avenger, he could take on a false identity and alater betray them in a big way.

Absorbing man could be intresting. As would Batroc, Super Adaptoid, Scorpion, and Morbius.
Screaming Mimi! Hey, she's halfway there already!:D

im torn between amora, and Moonstone, but in teh end i voted moonstone, enchantress may be too selfish and selfserving to be an avenger

Moonstone proved herself worthy during her long run as a Thunderbolt, and she's an interesting, conflicted character, so my vote goes to her.

When I read the title of this thread, I was thinking Absorbing Man, too. But really, he's better as a villain. So who? How about Sunturion? He used to fight Iron Man, but I think they teamed up at one point. Maybe he wants to atone for past mistakes and start protecting the environment. He had a flashy look and was fairly powerful:

There are 2, as stated above Absorbing Man, although in some way's I think he's a bit too..er...mad to be a good guy.
And Sand-man, back in the Avengers, he had such good character developement (he found God right and became a good guy) and they ruined it.

Moonstone. She has Emma Frost qualities!
Moonstone is a good villain to reform...
Thanos would never join the Avengers; it's below him to join any group. The Infinity Watch does not count since he was the mysterious member. Furthermore, Adam Warlock, Drax, Moondragon, Pip, & Gamora all are exceptions to the rule...

Though The Avengers have had a great history of reforming villains -- in addition to Wonder Man, Hawkeye, The Scarlet and her brother Quicksilver, there are The Swordsman and Sandman -- those characters each had a redeeming quality and/or not truly associated with evil and malicious tendencies. Outside of Sandman (IMO, a bad idea), none of these characters were hardcore villains, which is why when they turned the transition went over well and possibly Songbird joining in the future, if "Avengers Forever" holds true.
Everyone I saw on that poll were simply too evil and/or have no redeeming qualities worth considering for membership. Thanos is a nihlist of cosmic proportions and Ultron wants to destroy every living organism on the planet. Sauron is too useless when he is Karl Lycos and too out of control when he's active (not to mention the parasitic nature of his powers). Klaw is a classic, evil villain. Typhoid Mary is crazy. Like some of the others, The Enchanress is a longtime Avengers enemy.
Of the list, Moonstone is the best choice but the Machiavellian "heroine" role has been done by The White Queen in The X-Men and Moondragon with The Avengers (a similar role The Enchantress played in Thor's book).
I'm going to throw out a name, one I feel would be a great Iron Man villain if ever used again but has the back story to become an Avenger: The Living Laser. After The Living Laser's powers overloaded, Iron Man captured his sentient energy form and Hank Pym was working on restoring him to normal. Arthur Parks could show his gratitude by reforming and becoming an Avenger.
Another name: Amanda Voight of Magneto's Acolytes. The former love interest of Charles Xavier, Voight's abilities and level approach could be very useful in The Avengers. She seemed disenchanted with Magneto's motives way before his changes, so she could be an adviser for SHIELD before coming over.

I like the Ultron idea. I mean, he is a robot. He can be reprogrammed. Or they could do it like Despero in the post-Giffen Justice League, with, say, Vision's mind in Ultron's body.
If we're talking a "classic" line-up (Hank, Wasp, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Wonder Man), it would add a lot to the f-ed up family dynamics of the team. And I think he'd be the biggest threat to revert to villainy of those on the list, which is a nice source of tension.

Let's see, that "classic line-up" plus Ultron would equal one true hero (Wasp), one guy with an exaggerated bad rep as a wifebeater (Hank Pym), and four characters that started out as villains. Maybe they could call themselves the Sinister Six? It could be like a creepy version of the Fantastic Four's family vibe, kind of half Avengers, half Addams Family.

I choose Sauron, becuase at one point he was looking to reform. Hell he had a girlfriend and completely left the super villian thing behind him. His powers would bring something interesting to the table.
