They're touring Australia at the end of the year. Judging from the concert footage in the TV ads, it looks like an awesome show.

Whoop-de-fucking-doo.
Paul McCartney makes over $1,000,000 just on royalties and unlike the Crue, he doesn't have to do a damn thing to earn the money.

Judging from when I saw them close a festival recently, I suspect you were looking at a different band. They were pretty terrible...

The first time I went to a concert was in 1984, for Ozzy Osbourne's Bark at the Moon tour. Motley Crue was one of the opening acts, and none of us had heard of them. The only thing memorable was that their people were handing out fliers before the show, asking us to request their songs on local radio stations that played rock and metal. One of my friends took a whole stack of fliers, and we made paper airplanes out of them, weighting the fronts of some of them with pennies for extra impact when they hit. Since we were in the nosebleed seats, it was much more fun than squinting at the lackluster performance that Motley Crue was putting on. Finally, we started lighting the paper airplanes on fire before tossing them, but that seemed to upset people in the lower seats, so we stopped before the ushers figured out what was going on.
Later, after Motley Crue became famous, I still found them unimpressive. It's possible that their success had more to do with their aggressive marketing efforts than any real talent as musicians or songwriters.
s'funny. .
I clearly remember the very first time I ever heard of Motley Crue -- not HEARD them, but heard OF them.
Cactus Records in Sharpstown Mall, in Houston, had a display up promoting "Shout at the Devil". My Brother and I browsed the Record store a lot back then. . we didn't really buy anything, but it was always fun to go in and look at all the wall displays.
"KISS rip-off" I sneered, and we kept walking. (in the SatD days, Motley was way into the makeup and posed "evil" photoshoots. .so the SatD display was the inside jacket cover (of them each posing, very KISS like).
fast foward a few weeks, and Twisted Sister is coming to the Astro-Arena. I REALLY wanted to go, being a TS fan since the first album, and I was loving Stay Hungry -- the album they were touring on, that had the big MTV breakthru hits "We're not Gonna Take it" and "I Wanna Rock" . . as well as the concert staple "the Price"
anyhow, I really wanted to go, but I recall it was really expensive, since it was a triple bill.
I ended up winning a prize package off 93Q, the local hit station (now a country station), that gave me tix to the show.
the tour? Twisted Sister/Motley Crue/Ratt touring on "Stay Hungry", "Shout at the Devil", and "Out of the Cellar" respectively.
I had probably one of the best times I've ever had at a show, and went out the next day and bought both Motley abums.
I only stuck with them for one more, since I thought "Theatre of Pain" was dreadful, and only picked up "Girls Girls, Girls" used. . but never botherd w/ Dr. Feelgood.
My point, and I do have one, is that Motley is AMAZING live (as is AC/DC), and if you have the chance to see them, do so. It's worth it.
(oh, and TS made a horrible next album too "Come out and Play". . as did Ratt. . so maybe the tour was cursed. .LOL)

Fix'd. ;)
