ABC announced a double shot of country music news today.

After 30 years on CBS, the CMA awards will move to ABC in 2006. The new contract runs for 6 years.

Back in ’99, CMT did a special called Girls Night Out, which featured Lorrie Morgan, Martina McBride, Mindy McCready, and a relatively unknown Sara Evans. Though Sara’s only real hit at that point was “Cryin’ Game,” it was painfully obvious who didn’t belong. Not just in terms of talent, but also in the way they interacted on stage between songs. McCready was lucky to have gotten as far as she did. I hope she knows that, and realizes that she’s never going to get back. Her only chance now is to focus on little goals that are actually attainable. Otherwise she’ll be just another quickly-forgotten quasi celebrity who came to a sad end.

The group's debut album Twice The Speed Of Life was just certified double platinum. It's a really spectacular CD and I'd hate to see the group split up, with all the rumors I've seen online at a couple of country music sites, I have yet to see anything concrete about her absence.

Mainstream country (what I call NashVegas) has got to be the worst music on the planet. Lame, cookie cut songs that calls themselves country because they sing with a twang or the tune has a fiddle in it. The "Nashville music machine" is killing country music. That is so ironic. Where did you hear these tracks? Can I hear them anywhere online?

Shooter is my favourite artist right now. I'm spending a year in Australia and I brought three CDs with me -- two of them are Shooter's studio albums.


He played the songs when I saw them in concert a month ago.

I hope I'm wrong about this, but signs would indicate that Bryan Keeling, the drummer for The .357's is leaving the band at the end of October, his MySpace page has an announcement that he's available for session work in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, and that beginning on November 1st, he'll be available for touring as well. I really hope the band is just taking a break before another endless tour in support of The Wolf begins and Bryan just wants to keep busy until then. He's a great drummer and an even better person.

Taylor Swift's self titled platinum debut album will be reissued November 6th as Taylor Swift: Limited Deluxe Edition. It will have three new songs ("A Perfectly Good Heart", "Invisible", and "I'm Only Me When I'm With You"). It will also come with a bonus DVD featuring videos of the songs "Tim McGraw", "Our Song" and "Teardrops On My Guitar plus behind the scenes footage and a home movie.

She'll have a Christmas EP out October 14th exclusive to Target stores called Sounds Of The Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection.
