This book came out yesterday. I always thought about picking up the first collaborative work by Hester/Huddleston, but never did. With the release of Deep Sleeper I bought both books from this team. I've always been impressed with what I'd seen in The Coffin, DS seems to blow the former release away in every way. I was particularly impressed with the sketchbook and gallery section of the book. Huddleston has grown from an individual and talented aritst voice into a indvidual and brilliant one.
Any remarks on either book? I"m interested in learning what other readers think. Thanks in advance for your comments.

DEEP SLEEPER was one of my very favourite stories of last year. I thought it was a brilliant and moving meditation on the preciousness of life (and I thought the fighting and stuff was cool, too. Loved the short story about the warrior monks). The story hit every note perfectly, from the terrific characterization of the main character to the bittersweet ending. And Mike Huddleston is a treasure.
Are you reading Phil Hester's current bi-monthly(ish) title, THE ATHEIST? That's good readin' too.

No, I haven't read The Atheist. I remember reading about it, though. It seems interesting, I'll have to take a closer look soon.

Hester is my favorite artists (Argus, Foot Soldiers, Nameless, Wretch, and Green Arrow) and I have enjoyed several of his written works (Coffin and Wretch).
Unforutnately, I stopped the monthly books about 2 years ago and Deep Sleeper was not in my pull box this past week. Ironically, I was one of the only people at my old comic shop that ordered Coffin. They ended up ordering more after the fact.

Glad you guys dug it. Hud is a super talent. Mike and I will be back with another thing next year called Deathless. Could be some movie news on DS & The Atheist (#2 is on the way!) soon.

Deep Sleeper is on my list of books to hopefully get this summer.
Phil, you know what would make me incredibly happy though? The return of The Wretch.
By the way, you and Parks are kicking ass on Nightwing.
I'm such a suck-up.

If I can continue that theme for a second, I hafta say, I dug the living bejeezus out of 'Holy Terror'.
Sorry. Just had to 'get my fanboy on' for a sec there.

More Wretch might drive me back to collecting monthly titles.
FYI - I got the Nameless TPB on order!

The Wretch shall return someday. I have about four issues worth of plots in my files. The trades did okay for SLG, so maybe a one-shot of new material is worth exploring?

Most definitely. You know I'd pimp it when and if it came out.
