Does anyone know the order of the Star Wars books set after ROTJ? Does it matter if I miss some trilogys?

It really doesn't matter if you don't read everything. The ones I'd recommend to start are either,The Truce at Bakura (contiuity-wise, the first book after ROTJ), the Empire trilogy by Zahn (the first modern EU novels) or the X-Wing series (tangential enough that it doesn't matter if you know what happened to the movie characters)

There's a dope list.

I reccomend- SKIP TRUCE AT BAKURA. That book is wrong thematically for Star Wars, especially as the first story after RotJ. Perhaps my least liked novel in Star Wars world.

Courtship of Princess Leia is fun, but not superb. But a no a bad place to start.

The Thrawn Trilogy is the best, the first published, and a perfect chronolocial starting point.

Jedi Academy is also very good, came out next in publishing order, and continues nicely.

Those two story arcs more or less set up most of the others. I think once you read those, it matters less if you chose to skip a series.

If you keep going all the way to Vector Prime (and I don't reccomend it), it's important to read New Jedi Order is order.

Huh, I really like TaB. Felt like a good way of setting up the EU as a whole and the political divide.

I'd put in a second vote for the X-Wing series. Either of the series by Stackpole or Allston is good, though Allston's is slightly less related to anything in the films . Both of them are pretty independant, though, and I think they're well-written, humourous and adventurous.

Allston's are also better paced, funnier and more character driven.
I like Stackpole's entries, I just think Allston may actually be the best author in the EU, excepting maybe Zahn.

I'll be sure to check that list out. I saw on another board how Luke dies of old age (200) and has a son named Ben. Where can I read THAT at?
