Ferro City creator Jason Armstrong talks a bit about the series over at Newsarama (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=34225). There are also some sweet-looking preview pages. When I read the solicitation text (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5252), I thought it would be cool, but now I'm definitely planning to check it out.

The solicits I've seen say early August, not June. Image seems to have a TON of books starting in August, and a lot of them look very good.

The new titles that look particularly good to me are:
Blacklight
Dusty Star
Ferro City
Wings of Anansi
Coyote
Negative Burn: Summer 2005 (though, since Negative Burn: Winter 2005 just came out this week, I'm not sure I count on that scheduling)
The on-goings I'll probably be reading:
Battle Hymn (WW2 superhero "what if?" -- sort of)
Bone Rest (I like the look and feel of the few preview pages I've seen)
Expatriate (B.C. Moore writes some good stuff, and issue #2, out a few weeks ago, was very strong. 60s spy noir thriller.)
Flak Riot (issue #1 came out this week and I *really* like it)
Godland (I am a Casey fan and I like the old-school sci-fi/action/adventure look of this)
Grounded
Hero Camp
Sea of Red (Well-written zombie vampire pirates)
and then, of course, my three Image mainstays:
Invincible
Noble Causes
Small Gods
When I got back into comics about 9 months ago, I was a loyal Marvel reader (as I had been before I stopped years ago). But my Marvel pull list has dropped down quite a bit and I am much happier with the other companies - Image, Speakeasy, IDW. Now if they could just manage the "regular monthly scheduling" it'd be even better.

There are new preview pages at The Pulse (http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=003869). Plus, Jason Armstrong talks a little about the series. I'm looking forward to this one.

I thought it was quite cool. Great art, and it embraces the noir stereotypes.
Robot boxing is a brilliant idea. (Very "Set-Up" like feel there)

Ferro City, the new Image Sci-Fi/Noir book is quickly climing to be one of my favorite titles put out. If you havn't heard of this book, it's very much a hard boiled detective story. It's set in a world like you'd find in a 1950s redition of the future, so it's got a cool retro future look. The art is amazing, the writing better. And yet no one is talking about this book.
Talk people or we're going to have another criticly aclaimed failure on our hands! Ferro City #2 is currently out, #3 should be out soon. Check out a copy today.

Here Here.
Ferro City is a great story that captures both the visual and literary heart of noir. And if you call yourself a fan of detective fiction then you simply must pick up this book. If Dashiel Hammett knew about robots he would have written a story like this.
Kudos to Ferro City, the best non-superhero pulp robot noir detective story out there!

Heh.You know it's funny, the last time there was a book like this, it was called Electropolis, also from Image, and it singled handedly got me reading Image books and got me into comics at the capasity I'm at now. That was back in 1999.
How the time flies.

Tried it but can't get over the art which gives me several kinds of skin disease all at once. Sorry.

I haven't read Ferro City, until now, I hadn't heard of it. But if you like Electropolis, you should check out Terminal City, also by Motter. It's available as a TPB from Vertigo.

Sorry, but to me the art in Ferro city is SEXY. It totaly captures it's subject matter to a 'T'.
What didn't you like? The fact that it was Black and White? or the kind of cartoonish style it has?
And yeah, I know about Terminal City and Mister X. I just havn't got around to reading them yet.

What didn't you like? The fact that it was Black and White? or the kind of cartoonish style it has? The specific kind of cartoonish style it has. Cartoonish is generally hit and miss for me, sometimes it just works and it's perfect, other times it's ugly.

I put it on my reserve list as soon as I saw the preview art for the first issue. The story is pretty good, but it's the artwork that's keeping me around. My only complaint is that the book is too gray. I think the book would be better served if Armstrong limited the number of gray tones in his pallette and used them a little more sparingly. I know he's going for a shadowy look, but as it is the pages tend to look a little washed out — nothing really pops out. But maybe that's just me.

It's an ongoing the back up is setting up something that happens in issue 5 I think? This is a great book tried it randomly when looking for new books and have yet to regret it! Everyone should read this.

I've read the first two issues, now, and I love it! I can see where the art might not appeal to everyone, but I think it's cool. I like Armstrong's people in the background. They're all so unique -- like they could actually be real people. I like the cityscapes, too. One of the coolest things about this series is the paper. Okay, maybe not one of the coolest things, but I think it's cool that they chose a pulpier stock. It just adds to the overall pulp fiction experience that this series is going for. Good stuff.
