Been a while since i dropped by this forum, but your latest column makes it totally worthy again :D

a.Marvel & DC "Big Events": Ohmygosh! How come they always fall into the same idiotic shtick upon readership`s decreasing interest in their "grown men in long underwear" franchises? Could it be the rely on fandom so much they forgot what real readers look like? Heck,i guess i`ll haveta stick to the new Krypto cartoon on TV!

b."War on Terror": Face it Steve,it`s so masterfully wrapped up it`ll NEVER be over.People`s decreasing level of education and involvement only makes matters worse! Wonder why on Earth would Hunter Thompson shoot himself ?

c."The Assault of the Christian Right on Public Education":Years ago it would seem like a story straight out from "Weird War Tales".
Yeah,it`s that SAD.So pathetic indeed, i bet America`s home-schooled freemason founding fathers (or whatever dust and bones is left of them and their ideas) are currently spinning inside their graves in anger!

...but then again paranoid unenlightened people always turn to organized religion, which in turn transform them into mindless drones.

I've heard some unsettling rumors about why Thompson killed himself, and if they're true -- I don't have any reason to believe they are, though, which is why I'm not repeating them -- it didn't have anything to do with that.

I wondered how long it would be before someone blamed Hunter's death on conservatives. That damn Bush again.

Hey Steven.

I've read about the rumours surrounding Thompson's suicide. I think they are the same ones you read because it is some disturbing shit.

I'm assuming we're talking about the same ones, yeah, and he was enough of a flaming prick that I can't dismiss them out of hand. He did, after all, call his wife so she could hear him kill himself over the phone, without giving her any warning of what he was going to do. That's pretty damn prickish...

I wouldn't lay Thompson's suicide on current politics in any case. From what I understand, the guy was in constant pain after his recent surgery and decades of drug abuse had left him with a superhuman resistance to painkillers...
