I am asking all of you to help me pool some songs. Their lyrics need to demonstrate different poetry terms (metaphor, alliteration, etc.) and they need to be appropriate for the 7th grade classroom. I'm doing my damndest to make my IPod an educational tool. Thanks for any help, and if you could list the term you think it exemplifies, that would be neato.

I had an assignment in class the other day where we had to do this same thing. I picked "Specialist" by Interpol, since the CD was just sitting there on my desk, it worked pretty well. I'm trying to remember what other people used, but all I remember is my friend Natasha picking "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes" by Modest Mouse, and me leaving the room just before she had to present. I think both songs are ok for the classroom (Specialist has a fuck in there somewhere, but it sounds like "for").
Off the top of my head, Specialist has:
A metaphor
A simile
Figurative Language
Alliteration
Allusion (I think)
Either a pun, hyperbole, or onomatopoeia (I'm looking at the rubric now, and they're all bunched together)
Off rhyme, and internal rhyme
And its probably Interpol's best song.

How about a heap of rhymes and alliteration...
Pink Floyd - Astronomy Domine
Lime and limpid green
a second scene
A fight between
the blue you once knew.
Floating down the sound resounds around
the icy waters underground.
Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania.
Neptune, Titan, Stars can frighten.
Blinding signs flap,
Flicker, flicker, flicker blam
Pow, pow.
Stairway scare Dan dare who's there?
Lime and limpid green, the sound surrounds
The icy waters under,
Lime and limpid green, the sound surrounds
The icy waters underground.
