I enjoy both of these Star Wars song, but which one do you like better?

The one with a rockish theme, that introduces Darth Vader & (to lesser extents) Mr. Burns & Rush Limbaugh.

Or the one that sounds like an ancient Celtic poem with meaning?

Imperial March. It's held up well each time I've listened to it whereas the Duel of Fates, while great the first few times I heard it seems to have gotten more and more trite and dull with each listen.

I like both of them quite a bit, but I have to go with the Imperial March as being my favorite of the two. Williams has (justifiably) gotten a hell of a lot of mileage out of that piece through variations on its theme, more than he's gotten from "Duel" anyway.

Plus, the March sounds really cool when you play it on an electric guitar with goodly amounts of volume and plentiful distortion.

Imp March, cause its one of the most instantly reconizable songs put out in the last 40 or 50 years.

Ooooohhhh...I'm gonna try that when I become decently competent with my guitar.

Imperial march is great. But Duel of the fates is pretty damn epic too.

'da March. It's one of the most reconizable movie soundtrack songs in history.

The words in "Fates" are Sanskrit.

I prefer the original music by Gustav Holst. The Planets Suite was massively ripped off for the Star Wars movies.

March. It's disturbingly simple like the Jaws theme.

I've got the Planets suite and can't hear many similarities.

Gladiator's OST on the other hand rips it off mightily.

Anyone heard Rage Against the Machine's version of the March?

I got it off Audiogalaxy years ago.

I've heard Metallica's, and even if it wasn't the Planets exactly it probably contains bits and pieces pf several classical pieces. John Williams is a pack rat, everyone knows it, but I've never cared much, if it sounds good all the more power to him.

I'm going to go with Duel of the Fates as well I'm afraid.

I know about the significance of the March, and that its considered to be a classic, but I prefer Duel... sorry.
