What do these three series have in common? The anime versions of all of them started out similar to the manga, but after a certain point diverged completely. Yet both the manga and anime versions have been individually appreciated on their own merits, so which version do you prefer in any or all of these series?

Well I've got both the manga and anime for Hellsing and Trigun. Well I still need to get more Trigun manga. FMA I've seen on TV and have one volume of the manga. As for between all three, they all ahve characters in red coats.

Hellsing has been much better. While I like the more dramatic and serious tone of the anime, the manga is a bit more fun. At the same time I wonder if it would work on screen the way it works in print, so I really don't mind it. Now the real enemy they find in more recent volumes is so much better than what you saw in the anime. Though there's a new OVA in the works, so I hope they can touch on this.

I just got around to the huge volume 2 of the Trigun manga. There's a LOT of stuff they glosses over or just plained skipped. A friend was trying to convince me to cosplay as Legato, but i wasn't impresssed by him in teh anime. Upon reading just to the 2nd volume of the manga and seeing a cool wallscroll from the orginal design, I'm hoooked. He's a much more interesting character already.
