What exactly does Quasar do?
Iv'e never been able to figure out if hes strong or weak,if his powers are useful or lame.
Who can beat him at whatever he does?

Not all those links work anymore, but the ones that do are pretty instructive.
He's also managed to briefly stand against Galactus, and completely take into himself the total energies of Ego the living planet, when a machine channeled them into him.
Him and the Surfer are about in each other's weight class. Sentinel would also be a good match for him.

Creates constructs and shoots energy kind of like Green Lantern, but he doesn't have to concentrate on his.
His constructs are strong enough to hold the Hulk back for a long while, and he can also absorb others energy. He's strong enough to take on a Watcher, and is the champion of a cosmic force.
Nothing lame about him, he's a cosmic badass.

I mean, the guy creates permanent planetary sensory grids and sets up a sensory network across the universe.
A very, very underrated powerhouse.

I just picked up the first 30 or so issues of Quasar's last series. My goodness is he underrated.

I think the moment that clinched it for me was that barrier in the Infinity War crossover that was literally bouncing attacks from what read like a who's who of power from MU Earth.
(Of course Thanos then blasted it apart, but hey, he's Thanos, that's no shame on Quasar)
Or there's his overpowering Adam Warlock until the soul gem got busted out on him, or..
There's a lot of stuff, basically.

He could be talking about the Strong Starry skinned Imperial Guardsman though. At which point, he's nowhere near as bad assed. Still Quasar (Wendall Vaughn) defaults to Green Lantern/Silver Surfer territory on average showings. Whereas, the Imperial Guardsman is akin to Colossus-lite.

Marvel has a ton of powerhouse gems that are vastly underrated. Monica (Photon) and Moondragon are poster children for it. It baffles me that Quasar doesn't get a book again. They should make a team book with the underrated. Avengers Infinity would have been a good spin-off book I thought. Just have Beta Ray Bill sub for Thor and they would've been set. At least the Defenders are coming back...I hope.

According to marveldirectory.com there's also the Imperial Guardsman that didn't grow, he just looked like Colossus except his skin was black with star patterns.
Edit - Or is that the one that's Neutron now?

With Marvel seemingly grabbing at every non-comics-scribe they can find (Whedon, Straczynski, Smith, Card, etc.) maybe there's hope they'll get a new Quasar series going with an established sf author? Personally, I think Jack McDevitt could do wonders with the series.
Of course, so could I, but no one's beating down my door at the moment... :)
