HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Hate to tell everyone this but, the collectors market is dead. I'm sure someone out there would disire it, but if you bought it through a magazine nobody's going to pay more then a few bucks more then what your paid for it. And if alot got printed/ordered, it could even be worth less.

And Witchblade #500? Witchblade hasn't been around long enough to reach 500.

It was a special mail-in, and it takes place in the future. So yes, there is a Witchblade #500 out there. I don't happen to have a price guide here at the moment, but most of the Wizard mail ins are 'book value' between $5 and $15.

Overstreet books it at $10.00.

Ah so it's also a Gimick book, further degrading it's long term survivability in the collectors market.

Unless it had a real kick ass story (which, being Witchblade I'm in serious doubt off) I'd cut my loses and get that book sold ASAP.

The Collectors Market is Dead, Comics are a terrible place to plan to make a profit in your purcesses in the long run. Value in Comics comes from Scarcity and demand. Anything published after, like, 1980, isn't going to be worth a heck of a lot unless it has historical sigifigence. And after 1990, not even that can save most.

PS: If it's a Wizard book, don't trust Wizard's price guide on it (heck don't trust Wizards prices on Anything) they will inflate it, HEAVILY to simulate demand.

This was a really good story. I enjoyed it a lot.

It was fast-paced and had a lot of action. It also had some great character moments. The script and dialogue were tight.

The art was FANTASTIC! Absolutely gorgious.

Am I alone in loving it?

I used to read this book but dropped it due to a lack of money. But before I dropped it there was a contest happening that had readers vote for a group of characters not to be killed off. Does anyone know who was killed off?

Arvandor

Kenneth Irons and Tora No Shi.

By the way, Witchblade right now is better than its ever been. Ron Marz is doing fantastic work with this title. His opening arc - #80-85: Witch Hunt - is brilliant. And Choi's art is absolutey gorgeous.

You owe it to yourself to pick this back up if you possibly can. It's better than its ever been. I mean it. Seriously.

I'm new to Witchblade and have only read the past couple of issues, so far I've enjoyed them....I loved the one-shot of the ghost samurai.....and not too much of a fan of Bacahlo's work but the last issue was good all round as well...will continue reading....and being that I don't even know what the Witchblade is......I will definitely bw checking out the special...

I picked up the latest issue over the weekend (together with the latest Darkness - also good) on recommendation from my pal over at PBR who's quoted on the cover - he's been shouting the title's praises for a while now but I've not read it since the early Wohl/Turner issues.

Very impressive, Mr Marz, very impressive!

Anyone know if Bachalo is the regular artist here?

No. The regular is Mike Choi.

Randycat

Woohoo more sales!! :D Now here's some stupid questions:
1. Will there be any more stories about previous Witchblade owners (either in the regular series or one shots, etc)
2. Will there be something special for the 100th issue? (I know, I'm thinking way ahead, but it's less than a year!!)

Ron Marz
07-25-2005, 01:09 PM
You'll see a LOT of previous Witchblade bearers in issue #92, which will the double-sized 10th Anniversary issue, featuring more than a dozen artists, including George Perez, Marc Silvestri, Terry Dodson, Chris Bachalo, Bart Sears, Luke Ross, Brandon Peterson, Darwyn Cooke and more.

And yes, we're talking about something special for #100. Just can't tell you what yet...

I'll probably pass; bought the special issue a few years back (think it was #75, it had the black cover), and it didn't quite click with me.

I dig the general idea, though; from the 4-5 episodes of the cancelled TNT series, Witchblade is a great concept to play with.

Randycat

Starting to turn me off of this series.

I got Witchblade REvelations 2, so far.

Dussan, while it's not really my place to comment on previous issues of Witchblade, I would tell you that I wrote my first arc on WB to be extremely "ground floor" for new readers. Issue #80 is as new-reader friendly as possible. You'd be fine starting right there, rather than "catching up."

I the think calling it "EARLY Image-itis" is more accurate.

With great writing on books like The Walking Dead, Sea of Red, Invincible, Strange Girl, Grounded, The Expatriate, NYC Mech, and Godland, you can't possibly apply that generic term to the current state of Image comics. It's a shame most people can't see past that. :(

We really need to get more threads going about this series. Ron Marz has utterly revitalized it, and Mike Choi's art is just gorgeous.

This issue was very emotional, as Sara searches for a missing child, with tragic consequences. The final page, especially, does an incredible job of conveying sadness and despair, with not a single word panel.

I'm going to keep saying this. Witchblade is better than ever. Pick it up!

I receive it today and read it, probleme is i discover witcblade only a few month back, so i had to buy back issue, lucky that i am i found a big deal on ebay for witchblade 1 to 43 with a couple more issue further(46, 49 and 54)

I read #1 to 43 in a couple of weeks, but that deal was still like 135$ canadian, and im a fan of The magdalena as well so i had to buy the first 3 issue serie, plus the 4 issue of the darkness that she appear on and well this month i could not order a lot of witchblade, but i order # 44 and 45, and well im going to continue to try to get around 5 book a month + the current one release. So when i got this #88 i saw that it start a story arc, so i read it even if i wanted to wait to read the whole serie. The story was cool, but i don`t know why sara as been transpher and i don`t know this new guy that is her partner, i think i will wait to get more back issue before continue reading the new one, maybe if i have enought money i will go for 10 a month...that will be faster... but witchblade is definately a comic i like a lot.

Arvandor
08-31-2005, 12:10 PM
The back issues weren't necessary.

Ron Marz took over at #80, and he effectively started again from scratch. She got a new partner and transfered to a new district with his run.

He uses this angle to give new readers fresh insight into the Witchblade. The time to jump on is #80. You don't have to go any further back than that.

Hey guys, i just want to know how signed copy of witchblade comic worth, i have a couple of them signed by christina z, randy green or the whole team. Some are Gold signe like it seem its compagny made and other seem hand signed. So well i don`t know much about comic, i actually buyed them in a big witchblade lot, personally im only interest in reading the comic, and keep them because of the artwork, but i don`t really care about the signed copy , i have a non-signed or them as well. So if they worth the same price as normal comic(around 3$) i won`t try to sell them, that would not worth it, but if they worth around 10$ by comic, i could be interest. So i need your knowledge on this one.

ps : I have a printer/scanner, but im just waiting for that fukking usb cable that i was told was normal to not be included with it(stupid things, its like if i would buy i dvd player and it miss the cable to link it to the tv...) so i got one on internet and i am waiting is arrival, so in a couple of day(hope i got it by the end of next week) i should be able to make scan.

Thought I would re-vitalize this thread now that the book has set some good foundations for it.

Marz is doing a solid job with the book although his past few stories have not been as good as 80-85. His multi-tasking on other books might have been an effect. What has also hurt the book is the lack of consistency with the art.

In a few issues a new art team is taking over and from what I look they seem to be pretty good.

Also next week issue number 97 comes out with the return of Ian Notthingham.

OVerall the personal dialouge has been a lot better, there has been an apperance by Samantha Argets from Hunter-Killer, Sara has developed a new love interest, Ian is coming back as a mystery, and Jake will be coming back with a dark edge!!!

There is a lot going on for this book right now!

I've been following Witchblade for years now and I have to say that Ron's run is way better than anything that came out before.

Everyone should check this book out. The first story arc (Witch Hunt) has already been released in TPB and it's a perfect place to jump on this title.

The second trade is scheduled to come out in July.

Might get flamed for this: But I really enjoyed the issues from 1-75 when many comic creators and fans still considered it comic fluff. There was a short run by Jenkins from 40-53, but other than that everything was written by either Wohl or Christina Z.

Hey guys. I picked up the first TPB of Ron Marz/Michael Choi run (Witchhunt: #80-85) and loved it so much, I picked up #92-97. Loved it. These issues have destroyed my perceptions of the series being a badgirl, cheesecake series. Its a grounded, character-driven cop-drama with a supernatural twist and I love it. Marz is amazing and Choi's art is impressive.

It looks like Jake might be getting offed in issue number 100. Ron Marz has stated in numerous interviews that Jake will be returning with some sort of dark side to him. Also either Gleason or Jake will not be coming back after issue number 100 as stated in the recent Wizard Magazine.

And from the previews for 101 --- it looks like Sara will be losing someone close to her and the cover also shows her in some sort of military uniform at a funeral.

I have a question about issue 95. . (Spoilers!!) I think, the Previews ads said this issue and the one before were supposed to reveal the ID of the Curator, but I didn't really understand it. . .was he supposed to be one of the guys from the flashbacks (from hundreds of years before)? It wasn't very clear to me. . .

Apparently, they're reprinting # 1-50 in one softcover edition !

I'm going to get that and hopefully they'll do the same with # 50-100.

SincereAgape
06-10-2006, 10:37 AM
That would be great if they were able to reprint issues 50-100 in some sort of soft/hardcover format that they doing with the first fifty.

But IMO - The first fifty issues of Witchblade were much better than the latter fifty. Issues 1-8 had the origins arc, one of the best story to come out of the 90s. In 9-15 you had the microwave murder story that was excellent and had a nice build-up. Family Ties followed by Ian being in control of the Witchblade were also very good.

26-39 is where the book took a bit of a dive in terms of creation wise. Turner had left and so had Wohl leaving Christina Z and random artists in charge of the book. When Turner left, the people who bought the book for his art dropped out as well. This is what I like to call the D. Gavin Taylor era combined with the return of Irons and Ian. Overall it was the definition of 90s fluff, but still a decent run which layed some foundations for the comic. The best part of this era was when Sara found out that Joe Siry had killed her father. 40-50 was the Paul Jenkins era and this is when Witchblade started to dwell into the occult aspects. I've never read this timeperiod but plan on reading it even though I own it. Frankly Jenkins and Keu Cha's run somewhat creeps me out. But I'll get around to reading it. There are some hardcore Witchblade fans who think that 40-50 was some of the best stories to ever come out of Withblade.

Much of 50-100 is sort of like 26-39 of the Witchblade series. Not really defining, but fun to read for hardcore Witchblade fans. 69-75 was Deathpool which was a rushed storyline IMO. To very underated issues to ever come out for Witchblade are 76 and 77 when Troy Hickman wrote a brillilant two issues are entitled Strength and Weaknesses.

Apparently, Witchblade is big in Japan. (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75834) I believe it will be even bigger in Japan than it is here. It seems like the kind of unconvential comic book/fantasy story that the Japanese would really love (female protagonist, mystical/magic related powers, occult aesthetics) so I can't say I'm surprised it's doing well in the world of anime and manga.

Witchblade 100 is hitting the stands this week and it appears to be a major jumping point in the comic book. Rumors that are spreading state that there maybe a new bearer of the Witchblade in the near future. Hence the female character who is at the top of the add on this website and on the cover of one of the Witchblade 100 covers.

Sara Pezzini, the main character of the book not being the bearer of the Witchblade appears to be a new trend in the Witchblade universe. In the anime version there is no Sara and in the upcoming movies that will be produced there will be a new Witchblade weilder as well.

Apparently the book is not entitled "Sara" rather the Witchblade so that makes sense.

This is really frustrating.

Ron Marz' Witchblade is hit and miss, up and down like a yo-yo in terms of quality. It made a really great start, but then its been great one issue, absolutely atrocious the next. One month I'm loving it, the next I'm seriously thinking about dropping it.

Some consistency would be nice. (Even bad consistency, because then I could drop it freely.)
