This weekend, Channel 4 (in Britain) will be screening the results of their poll on the 100 Greatest War Films.
So, what would be peoples votes on this subject?
As far as I'm concerned, it'll be a travesty if "Where Eagles Dare" doesn't make top spot.

My favorite film of all time happens to be a war film, so I would have to nominate The Great Escape as no. 1.

I second the motion.

'Bridge over the River Quai(sp?)' I think at least deserves top 5.
Don't really know on the rest.
Although watching the trailer for the show, I saw 'Gladiator' there as part of it. Now I don't know about other people but, to me, Gladiator is not a War movie.

Lots of good ones but here are a few I would like to add:
Saving Private Ryan
The Best Years of Our Lives
Dawn Patrol
Lawrence of Arabia (I know it sounds like an odd choice but you do learn some of the politics behind WWI)
Southern Comfort (kind of a Viet Nam allegory)
