View Full Version : speaking of which...Punisher: The Cell
DID ANYONE GET THIS?!?? OMG!! This was me, like the whole book...
what, they can't do that?!? holey, did he just..??!!! what's gonna happen now. I thought it would all end on frank leaving them to die, but then, that last page, I was thinking if it suggested that he would be waiting for the police to come get him, or was he gonna kill himself or what!?!!??
I dunno, but that book was like Lobo type violence set in the real world (if you know what I mean) man!!

Where does "The Cell" fit into Frank's continuity? (I'm somewhat new to comics and The Punisher is my fave character)

This was weird. The Cell is a very huge part of Punisher continuity, and yet it was just solicited as some one shot where he's in a prison. I can't believe there wasn't a bigger deal made of this. Talk about tying up loose ends.
I was very comfused about the continuity as well. like clim said, this was a very big part of the Punisher (overall) story and i was just blown away by the fact that they just went ahead a made this book containing what it contained.
thinking about it more (after posting on batman forums) it kind of wraps up the story much like Miller did with Dark Knight Returns, kind of way.
Punisher fans HAVE to get this one!

Here's the thing: as original Punisher continuity goes, this ain't in it. Amazing book, but Frank and his family walked in on a hit being pulled off by Bruno Costa and his boys, not caught in the crossfire of a botched assassination attempt. On the other hand, Ennis' MAX Punisher exists in a different continuity from old school Punisher, so I think this is Ennis' take on the origin. Awesome book though.

Good to know I wasn't the only one wondering where this story fit...

Ennis writes his own continuity, and he usually succeeds in writing one entertaining book.
This One-Shot was great, but expense ($7 Canadian!)

This one shot was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed it from cover to cover. Like somebody else mentioned already: I wish it would have been made a bigger deal. Though Ennis' Punisher isn't part of original continuity, this was still really important to current.
Very good.

I took it for what it was: a damn good story.
I like what he did to the twins.
And in two lines, I learned more about the character of Squeaky Pete than I do in a full year of plots in some mainstream titles. Ennis good.

wow wow wow! I just got this today and it is fan-tas-tic!
Ever played COR: escape from butcher bay? Riddick has nothing on Big Frank!
I don't think he's waiting for assisted suicide at the end, because when he was murdering those awful old men he was saying how he was going to devote the rest of his life to killing the scum, and that he would easily escape the prison.
An awesome one-shot!

I had to give this one a pass, didn't have an extra $4.99 to spare.

Yeah, but this is Garth's re-boot/reimagining of the character.

I've just started picking up the Ennis Punisher trades in the last few weeks (I've read 1 & 2 so far, loved both), and then this came out. I was very impressed, though the scene where everyone starts confessing their worst sins struck me as a bit weird.

in case someone decides to start jacking up prices on recent issues on you on ebay, i think you should do a looksie at places like midtown comics which actually DOES have international shipping! ;)
