As far as I know there hasn't been any news about this in awhile. In my opinion, the only way a Magnum, P.I. film should be made is as a continuation of the series and it should have the cast from the show. Although other actors might be good in the roles they wouldn't be as good as the actors who originally played the characters. Personally, I think a continuation of the show with the original cast would be alot more interesting. There've been rumors Tom Selleck was in talks to star in the movie and Tom Clancy was going to write it, and also there was talk that they would show Magnum after he'd returned to the Navy.

I can totally see George Clooney as Magnum if they don't go with the original cast members. I think there was a rumor awhile back linking him to the film. Although, I'm not totally 100% sure about that.

Miami Vice as an upcoming film. Possibly a Magnum P.I. film. Now all we need is the A-Team dammit!

At one point many years ago, Tom Selleck tried to shop around a Magnum PI movie. But he wanted something involving Magnum in the Navy (which he rejoined in the finale).

Yeah, Clooney would do a great job.

No way.

Magnum can't be played by anyone but Tom Selleck.

Amen. They can catch up with Magnum in the present and we can find out via a quick recap what he and the rest of the crew have been doing. I would HATE to see them mess up a Magnum P.I. movie by making cheezy fun of it in a remake.

Tom Clancy

So we can expect Higgins to take on that evil Chinese/Russian/Lebaneese alliance with the help of a lowly CIA analyst, and a guy who thinks he's still sgt Elias from Platoon?

Magnum PI was a GREAT TV SHOW and only Tom can play it!

STOP MAKING EVERY DAMN TV SHOW INTO A MOVIE!!!!!!

The way the show ended was such a cop-out. Higgins should have said whether or not he was Robin for the fans sake.

He didn't need to spell it out. We already knew. And by keeping it unspoken we were allowed in on the same silent secret between Magnum and Higgins. Much more endearing than had they had Higgins wobble up in front of the camera in the last five minutes of the show and say: "Oh and just before we all go away forever, I'm not really who I've pretended to be for the last few years. In fact I'm Robin Masters - internationally famous book author! Well now that's said, cheerio then! Bye!"

Now THAT would of been a cop-out. Having that revealed as definite would of demanded a fair deal of explaining. At least another episode's worth.

I'm not sure how much I like the idea of a Magnum, p.i. movie. I was, and still am, a huge fan of the Rockford Files, but when they did those series of TV movies a few years back, I don't think they held up the legacy very well. With that being said, if they insist on making a Magnum, p.i. movie, I don't think they should recast the characters at all, they're all still young enough to pull it off (with updating of course).

Does anybody remember the couple episodes of The Rockford Files that Tom Selleck appeared in as Lance White? Those were two of the funniest ever.

Now there's an idea!

HANNIBAL - Bruce Willis
B.A. BARACUS - Michael Clarke Duncan
MURDOCK - Sam Rockwell
TEMPLETON "FACE" PECK - Mark Wahlberg
COL. DECKER - Tommy Lee Jones
"AAA" (the chick) - Jessica Biel (yes, I know I cast her in everything. I don't care)

I was thinking more of Brad Pitt as Face and Jim Carey as Murdock. My choice for Hannibal? John Voight.

Good choices, but I guess I was trying to cast more realistically (could 1 movie afford to pay Willis, Pitt, AND Carrey?), otherwise Mel Gibson would be my choice for Hannibal.

I like Rockwell as Murdock.

But I see Mel Gibson as Hannibal and Greg Kinnear as Templeton. I see Ice Cube taking over as Baracus. But only if Mr. T can't do it.

They could. But it's all dependent on the budget of the film of course.
