Sorry Patricia for stealing your thread title idea.

Has anybody been to any Wizard World cons and more specifically the Philly show? The reason I ask is that I took my 10-year-old nephew to Free Comic Book Day and we were talking about going to a show. He said that would be cool. Would the Philly show be a good one to take him to? Are there things for kids to do? It looks like they might be having a video game tourney of some kind which I think he would be interested in if they did it by age groups. If the Philly show is not a good one or too big, I may must take him to one of the Big Apple Cons in NYC this year.

By the way, his favorites are Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. So while we were at the store on Saturday, I pointed out Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Human Torch title. He was so excited because the Torch is his favorite of the FF.

I think the Philly show would be better than any of the NYC shows, just because there's more there. PlayStation usually has booths set up to try out video games at. There's always been tables set up in the back for those collectible card games and their tournaments. Don't know anything about the video game tournament, though.

There's a good mix of dealers, including the usual t-shirt vendors that will cater to kids. Artist's Alley in the back is fairly diverse, and what pro doesn't love to give a kid stuff? ;-)

The con isn't too big. I'm usually done with it after a day, so it shouldn't be too too overwhelming for him.

It does tend to get busy Friday after school and on Saturday, so keep that in mind. Of course, the NYC shows I've been to aren't any roomier. At least Philly has some wide aisles here and there.

Yeah, the NY shows are really tight and don't have nearly as much variety. Philly would be good!

Way to corrupt 'em while they're still young! ;)

My niece is 7 - we've already started giving her Powerpuff girls trades and Kim Possible cinemangas. If possible, I'm going to maybe take her to MegaCon in a couple years. :)

And not just my nephew. He has taken the comics to school and all his friends love reading them during their reading periods. They all ask if he has any new ones from "that cool store". It was so great to see him smiling in the comic store!
