View Full Version : Avengers casting call

Sorry if this has been done before, I'm fairly new here. Dream casting is one of my favorite things to do, and I've only seen one thread for it on here so far, so I thought I'd put one up myself. I'm only gonna list characters I have casting ideas for, no certain team, so feel free to use classic Avengers, New Avengers, whatever.
Captain America : Thomas Jane (Dreamcatcher). He has a good look about him, and he's been blonde before. No matter how gritty he acted, I could never really buy him as a dark, mean dude in Punisher, so I think he'd be a good Cap. I stole this one from a Wizard cast of The Ultimates, thought it was perfect as soon as I read it.
Iron Man : Tom Cruise or George Clooney. Both rumored for the role, both good for it.
Thor : Chris Jericho. I don't watch wrestling, but he seems likeable on Best Week Ever. This tough role might actually be easier for someone who's used to shouting weird, corny dialogue while keeping a straight face.
Hawkeye : Paul Walker (The Fast And The Furious), maybe? I'd go for the younger, more rogueish Hawkeye. Got enough serious leader-y dudes already.
Wasp : Kiera Knitely(Pirates of the Caribbean) or Famke Jansen (X-Men). Look good with short hair. Look good period.
Black Widow : Milla Jovavich (Reident Evil). Hot russian chick, used to action roles.
She-Hulk : Jessica Biel looked pretty built in Blade Trinity, but can she pull off light-hearted and charming?
Spider Woman : Maybe a better role for Biel.
Plus, if they did New Avengers, they could have the 'real' Wolvie and Spidey. And a grizzled Nick Nolte as The Sentry! (J/K. He ruined The Hulk)
What do you guys think?
Captain America : Thomas Jane (Dreamcatcher). He has a good look about him, and he's been blonde before. No matter how gritty he acted, I could never really buy him as a dark, mean dude in Punisher, so I think he'd be a good Cap. I stole this one from a Wizard cast of The Ultimates, thought it was perfect as soon as I read it.
I'd go with Mark Valley(Keen Eddie, Boston Legal). I think he's got more the build of Cap than Jane. Jane's buff, but there's still this narrowness to him, I don't think it'd fit with Cap.
Iron Man : Tom Cruise or George Clooney. Both rumored for the role, both good for it.
When he's got a moustache, Mark Ruffalo's a dead ringer for Tony Stark, and I think he's a very good actor.
Thor : Chris Jericho. I don't watch wrestling, but he seems likeable on Best Week Ever. This tough role might actually be easier for someone who's used to shouting weird, corny dialogue while keeping a straight face.
Maybe.
Hawkeye : Paul Walker (The Fast And The Furious), maybe? I'd go for the younger, more rogueish Hawkeye. Got enough serious leader-y dudes already.
Yeah, that sounds pretty cool.
She-Hulk : Jessica Biel looked pretty built in Blade Trinity, but can she pull off light-hearted and charming?
I can't think of anyone who'd really do She-Hulk Justice. She's have to be pretty big, without loking like, say, China in the face.
Spider Woman : Maybe a better role for Biel.
probably.

Tom Cruise said that he wasn't interested in the Iron Man role anymore. You can scratch him off the rumor list.

Due to the dispensation of various rights, Cap, Thor, and Iron Man (along with the Hulk) can be written off straight away. That said, my list is as follows:
Scarlet Witch Melina Kanakaredes
Wasp Selma Blair
Hawkeye Doug Savant
Vision Jeff Goldblum
Falcon Will Smith
Dr. Henry Pym Kelsey Grammer
S.H.I.E.L.D. Liason Carol Danvers Darryl Hannah
Ant-man Seth Green
A.I.M. Leader Ed Harris
With the exception of Blair, I chose actors who are late 30's to early 40's as a minimum. The X-Men are the school kids, the Avengers are the seasoned pros. I also have a specific storyline in mind.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: Viggo Mortensen
Watch RETURN OF THE KING again and think of him as Cap. If he were to bulk up some, he'd be perfect.
IRON MAN: Rob Lowe
Before you trash this, think about it.
THOR: Triple H
Been discussed in other forums and I think he'd be a good choice.
WASP: Keira Knightley
SPIDER-WOMAN: Jessica Biel
HAWKEYE: Hayden Christensen
BLACK WIDOW: Rebecca Romijn
BRUCE BANNER: Edward Norton
SCARLET WITCH: Scarlet Johannson
THE VISION: Guy Pierce
Others...
NICK FURY: Kurt Russell or Russell Crowe
LUKE CAGE: Michael Jai White

Great suggestions so far! I definately would love to see Scarlet Johansen as anyone in anything, so that's good. Although, if they do have to cut Cap, Iron Man, and Thor out of the movie, there really shouldn't even be one. So let's stay in the world of make believe and fuzzy kittens, eh?
Any ideas for villains?

The Avengers have existed without the "big guns," and given what "New Avengers" has shown us, I think it's better that way! I think a great film could be made without them, and it would also give some of the "second tier" characters a chance to shine.

The villain has to be Ultron. Nothing less will do.

Hawkeye: Sean William Scott
Scarlet Witch: Eliza Dushku
Warbird: Laura Linney
Yellowjacket: Thomas Jane
Wasp: Selma Blair
Black Panther: Eamonn Walker (Kareem Sayid in HBO's OZ)
Mix of "veterans" with "young bloods", hence, the diverse ages.
New Avengers:
Spider-Woman: Jennifer Connelly
Wolverine: Hugh Jackman
Spider-Man: Tobey or Jake Gyllenhall
Cage: LL Cool J
Sentry: Suggestions, please

How about Ryan Reynolds for Hawkeye? He's all buffed up now, and works well as sarcastic comic relief.

Ok, I want to cut in and officially change my answer for Hawkeye to either Ryan Reynolds OR Sean Williams Scott. I'm a fan of both of them, and they are much better choices than mine. I can do that because I started this thread, and now we shall never speak of this ugliness again. My answer has ALWAYS been Ryan Reynolds or Sean William Scott. Live with it.
And HA! Someone does agree with me about Thor! Also, anyone who wants to post pics of any of the suggestions, that'd be awesome. I would, but I'm on Webtv, and therefor I don't get to do fun things on the internet.

This post scared the living crap outta me...I have always been told that to make an avengers movie, you would probably have to spend a billionm bucks just to get the big three in the same movie. So when I saw "Avengers casting call" I thought maybe bill gates or somebody got involved...well, maybe another time
Here is my team:
Captain America:Ben Affleck
Iron Man:Tom Cruise
Thor:Triple H
Scarlet Witch:I agree, Eliza Dushku
Quicksilver:For some reason, I want to say Macauley Culkin
Photon/Capt.Marvel:Gabreille Union
Warbird:An unknown named Kristia Knowles(someone please post a pic)
Wasp:Winona Ryder(let's give her a chance)
Giant-Man:Micheal Shanks
A few notes:If somebody is gonna play cap and thor, they are gonna have to be huge. These carachters are more than just your average vin deisel character'even he isn't big enough.

BEN AFFLECK?!
Can you honestly imagine Ben Affleck standing next to Triple H, with their Captain America and Thor costumes on, and not laugh your ass off?
I'm just playin'. I lke Winona Ryder as Wasp...I always imagined Wasp as slightly older, the most responsible woman on the team, and Ryder's getting around 35-40, isn't she?
Also, if a skinny australian like Jackman can play a good Wolverine, I'm sure a normal, fit dude could pull off Cap. But not Affleck.

Due to insomniac web surfing I found myself surfing IMDB and ended up at The Avengers (2009) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0848228/). Not unusual in the least, as I can end up finding myself on many odd and interesting web pages in the wee hours of the morning. I continued into the movies forum to see casting hopes for this prized film and found myself aghast.
I'm not sure why every fanboy and their brother finds a need to cast John Cena as Steve Rogers, but that little fact disgusts me.
So, I thought to myself who do the real fans at CBR think should be cast as The Avengers in a major motion picture.
I stumbled upon this very old thread (and saw that where I don't agree with some of the casting personally, I also found it as overly improved from the wishful thinkings of people who may be deaf and blind and have probably never read a comic in their life/imdb posters) and therefore found a place to post my question. Who Would You Cast As The Avengers???? (be it any cast from Classic Avengers, Ultimates, New Avengers, Might Avengers, etc, etc, etc...)

How about Carl Urban (Bourne Supremacy, LOTR, Pathfinder etc.) as Thor?
Considering he's played that type of role (Eomer, Pathfinder) before I'd wonder if he'd even take it. Still rather see him then Triple H. He's usually the first person that comes to mind when I think of for casting Thor.
I think if they ever cast Thor they should find someone who can act and put him through a 300 style training regiment.
Cap is another tough one to cast. I think Brad Pitt said he'd want to play him but maybe he's too high profile.
If they do an Avengers movie I think they should just do the original members and Cap and make Hulk the antagonist.

THOR: Triple H
Been discussed in other forums and I think he'd be a good choice.
He's got the looks for it but not the acting skill. He was terrible in Blade: Trinity.
How about Nathan Fillion? Carl Urban would be fine in this, too.
BLACK WIDOW: Rebecca Romijn
Nah, she's already been in to many Marvel movies. Get someone else. Perhaps Sienna Guillory or Milla Jolovich.
BRUCE BANNER: Edward Norton
Perfect choice.
SCARLET WITCH: Scarlet Johannson
Nah, this character should have an actress with Greek and/or exotic features. Maybe Emmy Rossum (The Day After Tomorrow) or Julianna Marguiles (Ghost Ship).
I'll add Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool (he even admits to wanting the role!). Matt Damon for Daredevil. Laurence Fishburn for Black Panther. Gina Torres (Firefly) for Photon. Jet Li for Shang-Chi.

Hawkeye is sarcastic but nowhere near as much as Reynolds would make him. Reynolds' never shuts up with the comedy that's why I like him for Deadpool. Perhaps Adam Baldwin (Serenity)?
Edit: Bruce Willis as Nick Fury. I'd love for Fury to get involved with the Avengers with S.H.I.E.L.D at his back. If they use the Ultimate versions just get Samuel L. Jackson.

Particularily House as Doctor Strange (something I've been rooting for). The kid from the OC would be a good replacement Spider-man too. I dig the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver picks as well. And I've been saying for a while Chiwetel Ejiofor would be an awesome Black Panther.

Captain America seems like the hardest one to cast.
I mean I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing some huge star like Brad Pitt play him, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be all that happy about it either. It seems like a relative unknown would be the way to go. Ala, 300.
The guy from supernatural does seem to be an odd fit though.

Jensen Ackles has the 6 foot build, the ripped body, the boyish yet strong good lucks of a young Rogers freshly thawed from the ice, and a single episode of Supernatural shows he's both charismatic and commanding as hell. His dramatic and comedic acting chops are also some of the best I've seen on TV today.
I do agree that the role of Cap seems the hardest to cast, by far. It's like casting Superman.

I think Mark Valley looks the most like Captain America of any actor I can think of, and he has the right kind of charm about him. I think the guy from Supernatural would be too brooding, and looks too young. though he's probably closer to Cap's actual age when he starts his career, I never picture Steve Rogers as looking as though he's fresh out of high school.
I like Karl Urban or Triple H as Thor, favoring Karl if the role requires more acting than physicality.

Captain America - Liev Schrieber.
Hear me out. He's a good actor, good looking big physical presence and played a secret agent in Sum of Fears so a super soldier isn't that much of a departure.
And c'mon don't you think Simon and Kirby would be cool with a Jewish Captain America. I know I would.
BTW I'm curious what's the next two movies in Marvel pipeline. They got Hulk and Iron man in 2008. They are doing a two movie a year plan so can't help to think what's next in 2009. Ant-Man, Captain America, and Thor seem the closet ones to happening.

Ultimate Line-up for Avengers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marvel has done so many movie adaptations of its most popular titles...from Spiderman, Ironman,The Fantastic Four, X-men,The Incredible Hulk even its Marvel Knights titles like Daredevil, Elektra, Blade, Ghostrider and the Punisher.... but somehow somethings missing..let's see.. ahh..Earth's Mightiest Heroes "The Avengers" ..
Pardon me for mentioning this "spoiler" of some sort..if you've watched the recent movie adaptation of The Incredible Hulk, notice at the ending; Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) discusses with General Ross (William Hurt) about forming a team... meaning the Avengers. I do hope Marvel would persue to make this movie happen....
Sorry for the long intro, so here's my suggestions regarding this movie's cast....(and I do agree with some of the earlier posts)
please take note that this cast is for "THE ULTIMATES" version of the Avengers
( I know the've already released an animated adaptaion but what the hey...this is comics do everthing's possible)
Nick Fury: the obvious choice Samuel L. Jackson, he doesn't only looks the part; he also has the acting credibility to back it up to give Fury some attitude.
Captain America: Marc Blucas, although at first I also wanted to see if Paul Walker had the role but let's face it...Marc has that military look that could put justice to Cap's image. (afterall he did play that super-soldier waay back in Buffy right)
Ironman: Robert Downey Jr. Hey, he made the Ironman movie a hit so why bother replacing him?
Thor: Triple HHH, some have posted that wrestlers can't act ,so why hasn't WWE been cancelled? besides does Thor's character really need to act? all he needs is a hammer and the guy whose gonna play this role should be immensely well built and Triple HHH has bought the cake.
Wasp: Nicole DeBoer, I would have gone with Winona Ryder but let's give the young one's a chance to shine
Giantman: Michael Shanks..he greatly looks the part
Scarlet Witch: Megan Fox or Ali Landry; if not telenovela actresses Marlene Favela or Barbara Mori ( hey Latina stars are really Hot, Hot, Hot)
Black Widow: Milla Jovovich.. she's the perfect choice
Quicksilver: Ryan Reynolds, why not...just to add some comic relief
Hawkeye: Josh Holloway, perfect fit for the sarcastic Hawkeye
Black Panther: Djimon Hounsou....any other nominations?
Valkyrie: Jessica Simpson...modern day vixen or "Heroes" Ali Larter
Dr. Banner: Edward Norton..nuff said
Dr. Ross: Jennifer Connelly..she's way better than Liv Tyler's rendition of the Hulk's one true love

I've been wandering ever since I first heard about the idea of an Avengers film, who should and will make up the ranks of earth's mightiest heroes? Obviously Cap, Thor and Iron Man are all in and Ant Man is pretty much a lock too now but who else should fill out the remaining 2-3 slots?
- Wasp - A founding member and the person who initially coins the name 'Avengers'. I doubt that Janet would play a huge role in this film (especially with another size changer already in the team) but she could definately be included in the team fairly easily and her 'how I got my abilities' explanation could be lumped in with Pym's. Also, having her in the film makes it a lot easier than introducing her in the Ant Man film (should that actually come to happen). I'd say she has a good chance - 75%
- Hawkeye - One of the longest serving Avengers (in one team or another), he provides a different view point from the the big guns like Thor or Iron Man. It would be easy to work in a sub plot centred on his feeling of inadequacy in the company of more powerful avengers. However, it may be hard for the audience to take a guy with a bow and arrow seriously, especially one with trick arrows and a purple outfit. Give him exploding arrows and an inferiority complex and he could fit in well with the right actor - 60%
- War Machine - Don Cheadle is signed on for two movies, likely Iron Man II and Avengers. Whether it will be a War Machine in the Avengers or simply as Rhodey has yet to be made clear but he will be there in some shape or form. I'm not too sure though if there is much room for another power suited hero with Iron Man already on the roster - 50% (as War Machine)
- Black Widow - No powers to deal with explaining and would look great on poster. Could be introduced by Fury as "the best operative we have" and shown sparring with (and crushing) several other agents. Not too powerful but you have to think SHIELD would put one of their own on the team - 50%
- Ms Marvel - Would add a strong female character to team but her costume would probably need to be toned down a tad. Also, with the power of Thor and Iron Man already giving the Avengers serious punch, she may be a little too powerful to make most villians seem a credible threat. A definate maybe but no more than that - 30%
- Luke Cage - His rough but endearing attitude would be a welcome change from the arrogance of Stark, Thor and Pym or the clean cut Captain America. Also, his simple ability set makes him appealing but the origin of those abilities is too close to Cap's for him to stand out. With the lack of anything truely unique and without a striking look, sadly I doubt we will se him - 20%
- Black Panther - An outside chance of making the cut but I don't think that Marvel will include him, bringing fictional countries like Wakanda into the film may be too out there for the Avengers' first big screen outing. Unlikely but could sneak in a a roster filler - 15%
- Falcon - Another long serving member but Wilson may struggle to make the cut given his particular ability set. I doubt Marvel would keep his bird empathy intact if he were portrayed and that just leaves him as a guy with wings. Could be interesting if (like in the comics) he was forced upon the team by the government. Whilst the links to affirmative action would need to be removed it would give the team another dimension. That said I can't see him making it in unfortunately (even though Will Smith would own this role) - 15%
- Vision - Has a striking look and a solid set of powers but if I am honest he seems a little too outlandish to be taken seriously. Couple that with an origin story that would require the inclusion of Ultron and it seems less and less likely we will see The Vision take a place on the silver screen - 10%
So overall you have the big three and Pym and I am going to say Wasp and one from War Machine, Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Who do you guys think will make the team and how would you like to see them portrayed? Should the film focus on one main character mainly (a la Wolverine in X-Men) or should it simply be about all the individuals becoming the heroes that the world needs and coming together as a team?

For me the Avengers are
Captain America (David Boreanaz)
Iron Man (Robert Downey)
Scarlet Witch (Candice Michelle)
Vision (Johnny Depp)
Hawkeye (Nathan Fillion)
Beast (Bruce Campbell)
Wonderman (Jean-Claude Van Damme)
Ms. Marvel (Maryse Ouellet)
And Black Widow may lurk around (Famke Janssen is the perfect Black Widow)

Don't we pretty much know the ones who are concrete:
Thor
Iron Man
Captain America
War Machine
Hulk (even if he appears a "villain" first)
Also, lol at the casting list above....Candice Michelle as Scarlet Witch. Silly little man.

Well, if I had my druthers, the cast would be:
Captain America
Giant Man
Wasp
Hawkeye
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver
Wonder Man
Wonder Man would apparently die in the first movie and leave a gap for Vision to fill in the sequel. The cast is basically a modified "Cap's Kooky Quartet". It's meant to bring in all the characters that provide the most canon story material to the group while having Cap at the head to provide a marquee name. With this group you can do everything from the old chestnut of Hank creating Ultron, to the Wanda/Simon/Vision love triangle, to Hawkeye's insecurity problems and more. The only one who really doesn't bring in that much is Pietro. However, I like him, he has a unique personality and, if all else fails, they can use the story where he betrays the team to the Zodiac.
Of course, this group isn't likely going to be it. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of a "big gun" team. Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp and Hulk. Maybe Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Vision will be brought in somewhere along the way.

Captain America
Ironman
Thor
Hulk
Ant-man
The Wasp
Black Widow
War machine doesn't belong in an Avengers movie. Sorry he doesn't. I doubt that Wonderman Ms Marvel Hawkeye Vision Scarlett Witch or Quick Silver will appear. Ms Marvel may appear as a Shield agent only but the possibility of that happening is slim. Hawkeye is only slightly more possible.
My Casting choices are
Captain America http://z.about.com/d/movies/1/0/j/A/sctch49b.jpg Ryan McPartin
Iron Man Robert Downey Jr
Thor http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/wu_7/images/JoshHolloway.JPG Josh Holloway
Hulk Edward Norton
Ant man Simon Peg (Depending on which Ant man he plays they may also include Yellow Jacket or Giant man.
The Wasp We already know she doesn't want Lucy Lu to play her so I'm worried any choice I make will seem racist.
Black Widow I'm unsure if they need a well known or a relative unknown to keep the cost down

Considering the issues Marvel has been having with casting in the Iron Man movie it's probably best to keep it small.
I say Iron Man, Cap, Thor, and The Hulk. Maybe Black Widow and Hawkeye. And it looks like Jackson as Fury will be in no matter what.
I'd wait for Edgar Wright to do his Ant Man movie before they use Hank and Janet.

Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Henry Pym & Wasp for the first one.
This.
As much as I'd like to see Hawkeye, Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch in there, the first movie should basically be the intro to all the big guns. Have Fury tease the additional members at end maybe, or give them cameos.
And no Pym wife beating, please. I'd say save it for the sequel but to be honest I'd rather it not happen.
And no idea who to have as the villain, actually. Wouldn't actually mind a supervillain team-up of whoever has shown up in previous Marvel movies (Abomination, plus whoever the villains are in the next IM movie, & the Thor movie basically; maybe throw in the Red Skull). Save Ultron for the sequel.

Marc Valley is not going to be playing Cap so just get over it. However I would like to see Nathan Fillian play Wonderman even if I don't understand what his powers are.
Ben Browder won't be playing thor either. and War Machine has no business in an Avengers movie.
Jared
03-07-2009, 05:20 PM
I'd wouldn't mind seeing War Machine in Avengers 2 if they can't get Downy Jr. back for some reason. He has been an Avenger, after all.
Anyway.
Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk are all pretty much definite. After that, I'd have...
Wasp. Need a girl, and she has no real character identity outside of the Avengers. Plus she was an original member. She has to be there. Don't care if she's Asian.
Giant Man instead of Ant-Man. I don't care if Pym mentions the Ant-Man tech too. But we don't need two people with shrinking power on the same team. And a 100 foot man stomping through New York could be an awesome sight, if done properly.
Quicksilver: Because DC will take forever to get off their asses with a decent Flash movie. And Justice League might never happen. Besides, every team needs an arrogant jerk. I see him as the Iceman (Topgun, not X-Men) of the group. His powers should be implied to step from genetics, but kept vague. Drop hints about his father being a bad guy.
Scarlet Witch: Can't have one without the other. No incest vibes with her brother, they're just very close and have had to rely on each other.
I'd leave Hawkeye and Black Panther for sequels, though they could perhaps have very small parts or cameos (T'Challa in a video conference with Fury, for instance).
I've left Black Widow out of the equation, simply because we've yet to see how she's handled in Iron Man II. Will she be a love interest for Tony? For Cap? A traitor? Will she have powers?
mr.brighteyes
03-07-2009, 05:44 PM
I'd rather see Yellow Jacket than Giant Man
Quick Silver and Scarlett Witch may fall under the X-Men banner in which case marvel wouldn't be able to use them in an Avengers movie.
Black Panther needs his own movie before getting shoehorned into an avengers movie. If he even gets in the movies at all. I'm not sure how you would handle the character in the movie.
I'm fine with Wasp and Black Widow being in the picture but really we don't need anyone other than
Ironman
Thor
Captain America
Hulk
Antman
Wasp
and Black Widow.
I'd like to see just one villain not a super team. maybe Kang with the an army of growing men or someone like Hydra or something like that

I think Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch aren't part of the X-Men banner. I think they tried to get one or both of them for one of the sequels.
It'd be kind of cool if they used them in the Avengers and make a vague connection to Magneto.

I'd rather see Yellow Jacket than Giant Man.
Well, I had Hank as Giant Man in mine because it seemed the role that would best be fit to the situation. The Yellowjacket identity has a lot of baggage. Plus, with Wasp on the team, the shrinking power is covered. Just give her a chic, streamlined version of the old Ant-Man cybernetic helmet for communicating with insects and all the "bug" powers are covered in one character. So, that leaves Hank with giant powers. I figure the best bet would be the usual growing stuff plus the bit about carrying around equipment that's shrunk down (as he did in the Goliath and Dr. Pym identities). Also, since my idea was to have the Masters of Evil in the first movie, the Goliath moniker would be taken by Eric Josten.
mr.brighteyes

I figure Hank can do both grow and shrink as Yellow Jacket.
Jared
03-07-2009, 07:52 PM
Norah Zehetner is an inspired casting idea, though I'm not wild about the Evolution character design.
Yellow Jacket is just a terrible name for a superhero, and it doesn't fit a guy who grows gigantic at all. I think it's better to keep it simple for the movie, especially with the lesser known characters. He's Giant Man, he grows big. She's Wasp, she turns small and flies and shoots "stinger" bolts.
Aubergine~!

Cap spiderman Thor Iron Man Hulk Hawkeye Sentry Wolverine Elektra(but have sum one new play her).
I'd actually like to see a New Avengers-type deal at some point, though it's pretty unrealistic.
Something like:
Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire)
Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.)
The Hulk (Ed Norton)
Wolverine (Hugh Jackman)
Thor (whoever)
Captain America (whoever)
backed by Nick Fury (Sam Jackson) would be fanboy-awesomeness. You could even throw in Blade (Snipes) or Ghost Rider (Cage), though that might be stretching it a bit. No Daredevil/Elektra though, hopefully.
It's not going to happen, but damn if it wouldn't be brilliant.
Also, the most important bit no one's touched on: Who should play Jarvis?

Fury 's on the team in some way(commanding the team I should say) We'll have Ant/Giant-Man even if his movie doesn't do that well. I don't really know Alexander, but having a real life father and son playing Odin and Thor would be pretty awesome, and Stellan's got the chops and the gravitas for it, no doubt. Though maybe not the voice...I'd expect a more Brian Blessed kinda sound for the All-Father.

S'ok. LOL
The only thing I've seen him in was when he played Ben Stiller's doomed roommate in Zoolander. Not sure if he can act, but he seems to explode when doused with gasoline and then exposed to an open flame.
He's 6'4, blond and Nordic. His father is an amazing actor, and Branaugh's a great director. If he can get a good performance from Keanu Reeves (who, incidentally doesn't explode when doused with gasoline and exposed to an open flame) then we should have no worries.

Thanks christ for that!! I've been saying Alex Skarsgard is the perfect choice for Thor ever since True Blood started. I'm so happy it's not Triple H or some other lame ass wrestler that most morons on message boards have been suggesting.
Alex is brilliant in True Blood, and IMO is the coolest character (Eric the former Viking vampire) on the show.
As an actor, he's pretty damn good. He was the main character (Brad "Iceman" Colbert) in HBO's Generation Kill, which was a bloody good show too. His role as Eric in True Blood show's he's got the intimidating size and charisma to play the role of Thor.
He's 6'4", a natural Nordic look about him, comes from excellent acting stock, and a few months in the gym with perhaps the 300 fitness instructor and he'll be looking buff in no time.
They'd be foolish not to go with him as Thor.
He's even got Asgard in his name!!
