Sin City to DVD

Good news and bad news from our friends at The Digital Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents):

Here's a bit of cool DVD news that we figured some of you guys might be interested in: Buena Vista has let it slip that Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's neo-noir Sin City will hit our favorite format on 8/16. It looks like this is going to be a fairly bare-bones version, with a more elaborate special edition DVD set to follow later in 2005 or 2006.

Well the cynical answer would be that they hope people will buy the half arsed version when it comes out and then the souped up one later.

Personally, given the choice between a cheaper version with just the film and a pricier version with other bits chucked in, I'd go with the cheaper one every time. Except with Sin City. I really like the fact that they'll let you watch each story individually - though I'm guessing that'll only be in the souped up version

At this point, I think that I'm going to have to wait - still haven't seen it yet and with the summer blockbuster release dates fast approaching, it doesn't look like I'll get the chance to see it in the theaters.

For those of you who like the movie, it's good and bad news.

As for me, I really didn't care for the movie at all, so a bare bones or balls out version of the DVD won't affect my decision to not buy the movie.

16th August? I don't think the Australians will even have the film in their cinemas at that date!

That's why they release these things by region. I'm sure it'll be a Region 1 (North America) only release in August. MAYBE Region 2, as well. Does anyone know when SIN CITY came out in the UK?
