Crap! When I heard about DC's upcoming change in logo, I wrote up the following for Pipeline. This was yesterday afternoon at some point:
According to a Newsarama report (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33316) (quoting an International Herald Tribune report), DC is changing their logo. The cynic in me is guessing we'll see something slick, shiny, slightly CGI-looking, and definitely three dimensional. It'll involve two colors, one being a highlight color of the other.
Check that link today for the new logo. I was, if you ask me, very very very close.
Of course, now it can't be seen as a prediction at all. Crap.

Hey, Augie, just out of curiosity -- why did the cynic in you picture those things? I don't see any of the characteristics you mentioned as being negative.
I'm less than moved by the new logo, although for a while I was convinced it would be closer to the WB logo. I know Jemas had that joke for a while of calling DC AOL Comics, but I have to wonder how long it will be until that happens -- because every day comics are becoming more and more of a secondary product to movies and television, and everyone knows Warner Brothers.
actually, I like the new logo. It's not as stale as the old one while bringing in a sense of freshness. Sure, the old one is iconic, but I think it's tooo old.

I don't particularly think much of the new logo. I happen to like the traditional logo.

I'm going to wait and see how it looks on the books that I get before passing judgement. My initial reaction was that I really didn't like it but it's not going to prevent me from buying their books.

I don't hate it, but I DO miss the classic bullet logo (and it actually FIT the name of the company, being as it was derived from "Detective Comics").
It reminds me a lot of the old Hanna-Barbera logo (http://img.thefreedictionary.com/wiki/4/49/Hann_logo_7.jpg), though.
It might remind me of it even MORE, if they actually plan on "animating" it, with the TV or film properties.
I like that they want to make the DC logo a major part of the other product lines. I get SO giddy everytime I see the awesome Marvel logo they play before their films, and I thought it was very cool that they actually included the Vertigo logo with Constantine.

Because it's the same thing that everyone else does with their logo. They all start looking alike after awhile. Not everything needs to look 3-D. Not everything needs to have a highlight color.
I liked the DC bullet logo. Classy, simple, not screaming "we just redesigned this last week."

I guess I don't care that much. I feel like the old logo could always come back someday if it needs to. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if in 10-15 years a slightly modified version of the bullet logo starts being used.
