Wait, where did you get this theory from. Obviously there is a Hollow in Ichigo but when did the eldest Shiba brother become him?

How did I get that theory?

Logical deduction from what the manga has said. Facts:

1. Urawara has made something to turn Hollows into Shinigami and vice versa, as well as something turn to Shinigami into humans (and vice versa if the person is strong enough, since he did that to Ichigo).

2. More importantly, the Research Institute Urawara was head of was conducting those experiments, and almost certainly modified the Hollow that killed Kuukaku's brother.

3. The purpose of the Soul Society is to maintain the balance in souls between the spirit world and the human world. Since the annihilation of Hollow souls were causing a lack of souls in the human world (and making the spirit world spill over), there probably is not a good way to make new souls, so the logical way to add souls to the human world is through reincarnation. Unfortunately, while I think they mentioned the Soul Society does that, I cannot remember for certain. We know that the brother/Hollow merge died in the Spirit World since Rukia's flashback clearly shows her killing it (by accident), and returning the body to the family. She should have explained what happened there, but, well.... guess she was too rattled to explain.

4. The likelyhood of Ichigo is a reincarnated form of the brother and Hollow merge is very high. Ichigo looks like the brother (except with red hair), the attitude and some of the talking style of the Hollow carries over to Hollow Ichigo, and you have an excellent reason for Ichigo's extreme power: Hollow-Shinigami's are stronger than normal ones, and the Hollow/Shinigami merge was further amped by all the Shinigami that the Hollow had already eaten and the fact that it was amped by the Research Institute. The big question is whether or not Urawara arranged the Ichigo reincarnation, or if it was a happy coincidence.

Note: Most of this information is beyond the point the anime and American releases have reached.

Actually, it was Aizen, not Urawa that modified that Hollow, in his attempts to duplicate Urawa's process, IIRC.

And for the sake of hilarity, I think it should also be pointed out that Ichigo doesn't have Gangyou's brother's overly long bottom eyelashes.

I'd just love ta see how kuukaku and gangyo would react in if they release that is the case, either they feel stupid for not figuring it, or some else comes up.

still surprises me that they weren't shocked by how much he looks like him.
