View Full Version : Boccaccio's Decameron: recommendations?
So, I've never read the Decameron. Does anyone recommend any particular edition or translation? I'm assuming there are a few choices out there.
I have the 1982 Mentor edition which has served me well, not sure about the current editions but you can usually trust Penguin and Oxford Press. Also try and find another book he wrote called "The Fates of Illustrious Men" (Frederick Ungar Press 1965). Both are beautiful books.
You can try either ABEbooks (http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=boccaccio) or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0451528662/qid=1115461510/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-7236102-9608812) for the Decameron.
thanks Xero. I'll have a look at the local bookstores, or order a copy on-line if I can't find it.
EDIT: found a copy of the Penguin edition today at the used bookstore,& bought it. G.H. MacWilliam was the translator.
