This Tuesday, I take a look at the latest PREVIEWS magazine for the latest and greatest trade paperback and hardcover releases.
I also unintentionally anger at least three different company spokesmen who will write directly to me to complain that I didn't mention their pet project of the month.
This is the cross I bear.

Poor picked on Augie!
Hey Augie, I actually got my column done and out before 3 pm today.
Whoo Hoo!
1 movie review and 2 CD reviews this week.
I already turned in my previews catalog this past Thursday, no TPB's struck my fancy.

I also plan on being upset that you didn't mention that trade paperback that I have been looking forward to, or the one that collected that series that I loved.
But I won't email you to complain. I may mention it on these boards. But more likely I will silently stew.

Silent stew is very healthy. I recommend more people add it to their regular diet. ;-)

What?!? Not even the NIGHTMARE WORLD TPB from FC9?
96 full-color pages, 13 stories, only $9.99!!! "EC Comics meets the Twilight Zone!" THAT didn't catch your fancy?!?
I'm sad now... :p
(Hey, this shameless pimpin' beats a complaint, right Augie? :D )
Gently sobbing in the corner,

Good job, Aaron! You turned a negative into a positive. You were pro-active in your approach. You, sir, did yourself more good than harm.
Keep up the fine work!

ARCANUM is a new trade paperback that should appeal to Brandon Peterson's fans. This is the series he did at Top Cow a few years back. All eight issues of the series plus the typical bonus stuff can be had for just $17.
Eric lent me his issues of this series a couple of years ago. Absolutely LOVED it. Am really looking forward to this! :D
For those of you looking to take up a new language, all seven volumes of SIN CITY are being released in Spanish this July. That includes ESE COBARDE BASTARDO (which I think was also an episode title on THE SHIELD this season, no?), VALORES FAMILIARES, and IDA Y VUELTA AL INFIERNO.
That should really be ESE BASTARDO AMARILLO - "cobarde" is a translation of cowardly - which makes sort of sense, when yellow=cowardly. But no, he really IS a Yellow Bastard, not just a cowardly one.

I bought issue #1 when it came out, got #1/2 off of eBay last year but never really got around to reading either of these two issues. Now that a TP has been solicited, I may just pick this up - there's going to be some bonus stuff added in as well!

augie, you were talking about waiting for a cap hardcover... except both the NEW CAP and NEW AVENGERS collections being solicited are HCs. marvel's "premiere editions" are HCs at standard size, like wolvie: enema of the state. the same shoddy, low quality binding jobs as their oversized, overpriced HCs.
also, calling it NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA is just... lame. new this, new that... next thing you know, we'll have NEW ULTIMATE words that were outdated years ago...

Josh - Yeah, someone just pointed that out to me on e-mail, too. Marvel can be incredibly stupid sometimes. Neither solicitation page copy includes the word "hardcover" or the abbreviation "HC" anywhere on it. You have to look at the checklist for the month at the front of the flip side of the catalog to see "HC" written out.
Dumb dumb dumb.
Also, these books are "trim size." They're not the oversized hardcovers that Marvel has been releasing for books like ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN. That's part of the thrill of those titles -- getting to see the art a little larger.
But these are all rants for another time -- like next Tuesday's column.

The opening page carries an ad for ARMY OF DARKNESS plushies. The sad thing is that their likenesses are better than the ones used on the SERENITY action figures. Ditto the Faith figure from BUFFY, who just looks constipated.
Not to mention Rogue's apparent, ahem, package?
