Hi,

I'm new to this forum, it looks great. Hope someone can help me out. Perhaps these questions are better suited to another forum, just let me know...

I'm curious to know what industry standards are for pay to artists. I've seen a lot of indie jobs for 1500$ per 32-page book, is that low or high? Those jobs were for both penciling and inking.

Also, I'm wondering if anyone here might have some tips on pitching book ideas to publishers. I have several stories I'm working on that I'd like to start shopping around.

Thanks
Peter Diamond

Dude, if you can get paid $1500 dollars for an assignment, take it. The vast majority of the small press pays NO page rate, period. Just make sure they pay you and that the check clears.

Yeah, 1500$ is a nice price considering its more common to be offered only a profit share.
However, what I'm wondering about is industry standards. This is really a part of a larger plan to pitch book ideas to publishers, and I want to know what the standards are outside the indie/DIY world.
Thanks :)
