I'm going out of my mind with this book order, so it's time for a post.

The Purge has really hit this week hard.

Adventures of Superman #639
Winick/Captain Marvel, right? Mmmmaybe.
Batman #639
Jason Todd, huh? *sigh* Despite that, I am enjoying Winick on this title alot.
Green Arrow: City Walls TP
Pre-ordered! I started reading with Mia's HIV discovery, so this is new stuff for me.
Hellblazer #207
It's hard to not get depressed, knowing that Carey's leaving soon.
Legion of Super Heroes #5
OK, #4 wasn't as good as #3. I think I'm going to stick around until things come to a head with Brainiac and Cosmic Boy and then decide.
Richard Dragon #12
Last issue really ticked me off! It only served to remind me of how much I like this series! Gah!
Solo #4
Mmmaybe, because it is Chaykin.

Captain America #5
L-O-V-I-N-G IT!
Spellbinders #2
Really liked #1.
Supreme Power #16
Wish it were monthly, but I'm still enjoying it.

Strangers in Paradise #73
Don't think I could ever switch to HC only. I may have to, but I really enjoy reading the issues.

Wait for Trade
--------------
City of Tomorrow
Depending on reveiws once it's over.
Losers
A no-questions-asked trade purchase.
Sleeper Season Two
The toughest wait-for-trade of everything that I wait for.
Daredevil
In waiting for trade, I have found that I really miss this series. Hope the next HC comes out soon.
Kabuki
A no-brainer HC purchase.
New Avengers
First trade is in this month's Previews!
Ultimate Secret
Ellis! Definite purchase.
X-Men: Phoenix Endsong
Once it is in TP, then maybe.

Diamond's list hasn't been finalized, so I'll most likely add more lately.

DC COMICS
FLASH #221 $2.25
Rogue War Part 2!
SUPERMAN BATMAN #19 $2.99

IMAGE
INVINCIBLE #0 $0.50
Yippe! New reader friendly! Just read #22 last night.

MARVEL
CAPTAIN AMERICA #5 $2.99
NEW AVENGERS #5 $2.25
New convert to both series. Really loving Cap (still need to track down issue #4) under Brubaker and Epting. New Avengers would probably read better in trade form.

DYNAMITE
RED SONJA CVR A #0 $0.25
RED SONJA CVR B #0 $0.25
For this price point, why the heck not? I'd like to get a copy of the white cover.

Hmmm... This'll probaby make it into the trades... will this spoil anything that I haven't read up to yet? I made sure my retailer ordered this so other customer's who've never even HEARD of INVINCIBLE can give it a try, though. No need to win me over! I'm hooked!
LULLABY WISDOM SEEKER #2 (OF 4) $2.95

This week I'm getting:

FEB050341 SLEEPER SEASON TWO #11 (OF 12) (MR) $2.99
JAN051586 86 VOLTZ DEAD GIRL ONE SHOT $5.95
I've had mixed reactions to MA Oeming's writing, but I still really like his art, and I'm curious enough about this book (http://comics.ign.com/articles/597/597739p1.html) to try it.

FEB052913 EASY WAY #1 (OF 4) (MR) $3.99
Trying this one (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=4665) on a whim. Looks like a fun crime caper book, enough so to draw me in even at IDW's high prices.

JAN052407 FILLER GN $12.95
The "Teenagers from Mars" guys' new book (http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26229) from AIT/Planet Lar. Nifty two-color art and an intriguing story about police lineups. Or something.

Batman #639 - I guess that I picked the wrong book to put aside and read all at once, since everybody's buzzing about a certain dead Boy Wonder. I'll get around to this eventually to find out if I'm hearing the rumors right.

Flash #221 - Johns is the man. He's the best mainstream writer at DC.

Sleeper #11 - This is such a brilliant book. It's a shame that more people arent interested in non-superhero stuff. A friend of mine raves about how well Brubaker writes Cap, but wont read this. Makes no sense.....

Captain America #5 - Speaking of Cap and brilliant. I'm loving this. Brubaker's writing has been perfect, and Epting has done a great job too.

Daredevil #72 - I know that Bendis isnt leaving Daredevil until like next year, but I sorta havent been able to work up any enthusiasm for these stories since I heard that. I dunno why.

Phoenix Endsong #5 - I'm buying for the gorgeous Greg Land art. I guess that I'll be buying Ult FF too due to him in a few months.

Invincible #0

Red Sonja #0

And it's not even a pure crime book; it's a quasi-superhero book itself. I mean, something like "Villains United" is going to sell massively more than "Sleeper", just because it's in the DCU using established DCU characters, but (no offense to the VU creators) I can't see it matching up to "Sleeper" for thrills, action, and stomach-churning emotional/moral whirlpools.

· INVINCIBLE #0 - I wasn't sure if it'd be in the trades, so for $.50 I'll take a shot. If this is gonna ruin anything for someone who reads this in collected editions please let me know!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #5 - Best Cap in a while!
DAREDEVIL #72 - This arc is pretty cool so far.
· FANTASTIC FOUR FOES #4 - Awesome series!
NEW AVENGERS #5 - :D
· SPELLBINDERS #2 - Good start with #1. I hope it keeps up.
· SUPREME POWER #16 - Still going strong.
· ULTIMATE SECRET #2 - Loved #1. Now let's get the other heroes involved!

· FILLER GN - I'll give it a shot.
· RED SONJA CVR A #0 - $.25, ya gotta try it!

Trade Material:

· OTHERWORLD #2
· SLEEPER SEASON TWO #11
· WONDER WOMAN #215
· KABUKI #4
· WOLVERINE SOULTAKER #3
· X-MEN AGE OF APOCALYPSE #6
· X-MEN PHOENIX ENDSONG #5
· BRIAN PULIDO’S BOOKS

I'll admit that the first time I picked up SLEEPER I was dissappointed. The book was marketed as a spy book, and when I found out that it had super-powered characters AND that there was some kind of backstory that had happened in other books I was pissed. That wasn't what I signed on for. And I don't read ANY other Wildstorm books, so I had no clue what was going on. However I let that go, gave the book a shot and it grew on me. It's a good book, bust I don't think I'd recommend it to everyone.

I’d also like to get into: STRANGEHAVEN (#17) and I’ve fallen behind on my STRANGERS IN PARADISE (#73) trades.

I also get somewhat irritated when a book I'm reading has backstory out there I'm unfamiliar with. Fortunately, "Sleeper" kept that to a minimum. Lynch and Tao were both established characters, but all you really needed to know was that Lynch was a government black-ops/espionage genius, and Tao was an evil criminal genius. Unfortunately, the second "Sleeper" series has been bringing in more backstory, with Grifter showing up and the events of the lead-in series "Point Blank" becoming more prominent. It's still readable without knowledge of "Point Blank", but it's not as independent as during the first "Sleeper" series.

Otherworld
I'm hoping this gets collected.
Superman/Batman
Between Loeb's hit-and-miss record with me and the guaranteed nature of HC on this title, I see no reason not to wait.

This week's trade would have been pre-ordered had they not already announced the HC. Thank you, Top Cow.

Eric's Dilemma of the Week
Wolverine: Enemy of the State HC
I hate Millar. I love JRjr. I hate Millar. Everyone I know seems to like this arc. I hate Millar. It's got a low price tag. What do I do?

If you're that unsure and want to "risk" as little $$$ as possible wait for the trade instead of the HC. That said, I really like this arc. I'm not as biased against Millar as you seem to be (and I wasn't all that thrilled with his MK Spidey), but I really like this Wolvie arc!

It wasnt' so much as that it HAD backstory, but that (if you remember) the way it was marketed was, "You don't need to know anything! Brand NEW series! Ed Brubaker will even give you your $ back if you don't like #1!"

I actually started readign the 1st tpb and it pissed me off so bad I put it down and didn't pick it up for weeks. Eventually I did get into it and I'm still buying the trades (only 1 more to go).

I think this is 1 place Marvel is slightly ahead of DC's books. You can pick up just about any Marvel book and get brought up to speed quickly with their recap pages.

I was lost in DC's Countdown book for the first few pages, and I read Identity Crisis. Plus any of the big reveals (besides the BB's demise) might have meant something if I had heard of those characters before, even if it was a quick bio. I was totally lost towards the end of that book - and it was supposed to be a great way to get people to "jump on" to their big event and I could barelly follow it. O well...

Hey, I was actually wondering to myself "Why haven't Jeff and/or Kevin posted?" Now I realize that Jeff couldn't post earlier because he must have driven to NYC and killed Kevin, hence the no Kevin post.

i'm still waiting to get the first trade of his work. loved all his engines.
The first Carey trade will be a great read! The only thing that ticks me off is that it will come out just before Carey leaves the book.
"Gee, did you like that trade there, Mr. New-Comer-To-Carey's-Hellblazer? Sure was special, huh? Well, he's no longer on the book and God only knows if there will be more trades of his work. Enjoy!"

DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 (OF 6)
why did i order this? i'm seriously thinking about dropping a lot of my superhero books. i just don't like what marvel and dc is doing these days.
My one big concern with DC is that I am not that crazy about Identity Crisis/Countdown/Infinite Crisis, YET it is showing up in nearly every book I read (e.g. Adv. of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Outsiders, etc.). I feel like the one time one of the Big Two decides to make something stick ("The ______ Universe will never be the same!"), it is over something I'm not crazy about. :(

mgs,

The General Grevious comic was kind of...well, bland. But Republic and Empire were good. The days for both series are numbered though from what I hear.

The Red Sonja comic was good too, but ok seriously guys, do you realize how much chainmail chafes in certain areas? I mean seriously! If I was going to be constantly picking fights and sitting in dingy bars in villiages where people don't bathe, I'd at least want a nice pair of leather pants to go with my chainmail bikini (/sarcasm)

thanks sabrina, yeah, i ended up getting republic and empire and I still think those series have so much potential and are so interesting anyways. I liked them. I agree with you on red sonja. mel's art was good, but, it seemed, a bit skimpy (in dress and overall art) to be considered as good as the recently released conan by dark horse.

for those of you curious I got:
Legion of Super-Heroes #5
Sleeper Season Two #11
Richard Dragon #12
and I passed on Invincible for fear it would spoil the next trade.

I did pick up FLIGHT vol.2 though I really can't afford it. It just looks too pretty.
